Media Player Lockups

I recently installed a new HDD (Seagate 120G 7200RPM) drive in my system along with a USB 2.0 PCI card. I have a Athlon T-bird 1.0 GHz processor and an MSI mobo.
formatted and installed the OS from scratch.

I got a couple lockups after the new install, but I did see something interesting. After a reboot I got a windows message about recovering from a serious error and that it was caused by a driver (it didn't say which).

At this point I was thinking video since I had just installed the latest Nvidia forceware drivers, even thought I have a Geforce 4 4200 64M.

I uninstalled those and used the drivers that windows suggested.

I still am locking up, but only on video when using media player.

BTW, I loaded SP1 for XP.

Now, I'm thinking Soundblaster driver, maybe?

Any ideas would be appreciated.

It is a K7T Pro 2A

And I just flashed the BIOS to a new version.

It ran fine for several hours with this new BIOS.

I only started having the problem after I re-installed the OS.

I haven't tried that yet.

I do need that card, however.

Could it be a slot problem?

I did that too.

It turns out I had a bad memory stick.

I don't know why it didn't fail until after I re-isntalled the OS, but there you go.
