My son's computer is having issues with MPC playing all his .avi files. He likes the MPC but was wondering if there are other .avi players that can play the files over the internet without being loaded on his computer or like MPC execute while sitting in a file folder on the desktop. Thanks ahead of time for the assist.

Maybe you should get MPC working properly before you try other players. It's a very rock solid media player, so if you're having issues with it, other players might give you issues too.

What is the problem with playing .avi files? What codecs and splitters are installed in the computer?

I don't know what he has done but he has been messing about with it for several days. I think he just wants to do everything thru the web aka cloud computing. Being a teen his computing has been pretty well influnced by the media.

I don't remember if it requires any installation or not, but VLC media player has a bunch of built in codecs. If I have problems with MPC, that is usually my next try.

err well he did something pretty wrong before mpc is hard to install wrong😉
playing avi's over the web? does he really have a fat pipe capable of such things? from where would he stream anyways.

anyways if he can't even install a media player correctly i wouldn't trust him with piracy and all that on your connection.

I've had problems with MPC. I imagine installing CCCP would help, but I usually just use VLC instead.

I've never heard of a cloud Media player. If such thing exists, it probably consumes a hot more resources than MPC or VLC.

I never had any problems with MPC + good codecs. In fact it has worked better than all the other media players I've tried.

If you want, you can try MPC Home Cinema. It includes FFDShow within itself, so it has the same support for formats as VLC, but in a much lighter package.
