Media Player 9 drivng me mad!!

If I try and click on an mpeg on a website, media player crashes with an error about a problem in mpegin.ddl

Any idea of a fix?
 

i think the issue is that mpegin.dll seems to exist in a lot of directories as if each vidoe prog installs one.

I deleted the newest on my system (though in a very diff directopry), and now it works.

How does windows choose which to use? The registry?
