Media Player 10 problems

If anyone could give me some sort of a clue on this topic it would help!

I tried to install media player 10 and keep getting and error that installation could not complete. Then I go to Media Player 10 and it won't let me view the library at all. It sort of locks up on me. I tried to download it directly from Microsoft and same issues. Does anyone have any suggestions short of formatting my computer again?
