Media Center 2005 Video skip forward?

Does anyone know of a patch that would allow me to skip forward a divx movie when using Windows Media Center 2005?

Thanx in advance.

I'm not (nor do I recall ever) having problems skipping forward when playing something encoded with DIVX. Dont think there is a need for a patch here.

So the problem you're having is that you cannot move forward on the time line when playing a divx movie (presumably avi)? Can you skip forward while playing that same movie file in WMP?

Correct, I can't move forward on avi's or mpg or even mp3 for that matter. I don't have any wmp files currently to test those out.

I tried to skip forward using the arrows at the bottom left next to the record button. It skips forward fine if I use Windows Media Player but this build is for a client who doesn't know a whole lot about computers so I don't want them to exit out of Media Center to watch videos and listen to mp3s.

What about recorded TV (MS-DVR files)?

Right, just checking to see if WMP could scrub the timeline since (as I understand it) MCE uses WMP for playback.

I don't have a TV Tuner card install on this system.

Oh I see, I thought you meant wmv video files.

And that is the weird part, WMP is used by MCE to play video files. WMP can skip forward fine but I don't see why MCE can't. Am I doing something wrong? Am I using the right button in trying to skip forward?

Can you scrub forward on the timeline in MCE using the mouse?

No, it will not scrub forward even though it shows up. The thing won't budge! It's so bizzarre. So you guys aren't having this problem?

I have a fresh install of MCE 2005 and have noticed the same problem with xvids. Fast forwarded recorded television works fine.

The only way I can skip forward during xvids is by hitting control-F - this jumps forward a set amount of time. It's unfortunate because I would love to be able to fast forward/rewind using my remote control.
