media on Thursday to think twice before pursuing
more stories about President Bush (news - web
sites)'s daughter's legal problems stemming from
alleged underage drinking.

``I would urge all of you to very carefully think through
how much you want to pursue this,'' press secretary
Ari Fleischer (news - web sites) told reporters in
Washington, D.C.

This should rile the press up, eh?
 
Still, it's something that every parent deals with, and isn't really newsworthy. Now, if it came out that Jenna Bush avoided punishment because of her father's influence, it'd be different.
 
The girl is an idiot. Once she realizes she's not a normal college freshman and the results of her dumb behavior will lead to national embarassment for her and her father, she'll be ok.

If the girl has secret service agents with her, why didn't they stop her from using a fake ID? Dufus Dubya should turn those guys into baby-sitters until she grows up.

Nevertheless, I agree that the media should not over persue this. Being that the media over the last several years has tilted to the right, this shouldn't be a problem.

The media did leave Chelsea alone for the most part. There were the stories about her dating the boy at Stanford.

The should offer the same respect to the Bushies. Then again, Chelsea never got busted for using a fake id.
 
I'm sure they hounded Chelsea too. Clinton probably just the reporters killed before they could publish their stories.
 
Just another example of the Bush camp trying to supress unflattering stories. They have been doing it for years; hopefully someone will take them on, and then everyone will see what kind of man GWB is...
 
Just leave it alone I say. How does this story affect my life at all? It is useless garbage that takes time away from serious issues. Let her family sort it out as most Americans would. Give the kid a chance to grow up.

I'm sure her George W. will lay down the law on her. I hope she straightens up her act though. If theres a next time I'm sure she will have hell to pay.

If it where just the Enquirer or something like that... but for this to be even newsworthy is just ridiculous.

It was not Newsworthy (according to some) when the President of the United States gave false testimony under oath, but this is all the sudden. Give me a brake.

You just called about 50% of people between the ages of 17 and 21 all of those things...

She should not be considered a specail person, just a normal teen to me...
 
Man Klinton and the She devil did the same thing throughout their stint in the Oval office....why do you think all of those Chelsie is a slut stories got Stifled? there were more stories about that girl and her antics than anyone can imagine but they all never got air time because of a deal...

In essence the deal was that if the press kept quiet on the actions of the klintons daughter then the white house staff would be more open to other bigger stories such as issues involving foreign policy and what not(which were deemed more news-worth due to substance, rather than tabloidesque such as trash stories about a slutty daughter).
Anyone who watched the news throughout the Klinton reign will have realised that the Press was all over Chelsie at the onset of his career and then suddenly, for no reason they just stopped? and no one asks why?........

I was a Political Science major throughout Klintons term and heard this straight from a few of my professors who had tight knit connections both in DC and the White house.

Would you not try to teach your kids not to make the mistakes you did. My folks tried, I still made the mistakes, I got caught a few times, and I payed for it.

The media totally glossed over when Al Gore III got busted for speeding late last year. &quot;Family privacy&quot; was the excuse. (Yeah, right.) One of the Gore daughters got busted for drinking at a party too. Don't remember a big stink being made then.

Dubya should yank her back to D.C. and make her go to Georgetown and live with the folks. She's not doing much different than many college freshmen, but Daddy's job should inspire a little more restraint.

If she screws up again, she could go to jail for 6 months under a &quot;three strikes&quot; law that Dubya signed. How ironic.

 
What is up with the press? Is underage drinking not all over the place? I'm in England and have seen 15 year olds get served without ID! Our legal age is 18 but hey! If no-one is causing trouble, what's the problem? No-one can be bothered to prosecute underage drinkers!
