Medal of Honor Allied Assult...wont stop splashing, please help

I reformatted my machine(took of xp and put on 2k) about a month ago and Im reinstalling all my games and stuff now and Im having trouble with MOH:AA. It installed just fine ect ect and I have the latest version of direct x, so that isnt the problem. Here is what happens. When I go to run the game, the hourglass comes up, i see the MOH splash screen(guys in the landing craft) my ide acitivity light comes on then the splash screen goes away and comes back and the process starts over and just repeats. I cant figure it out. I have had my doubts about this cd-rom drive for a while, could that be causing my problems? Any other ideas? Also, i forgot to mention that this game used to work fine when I was using my Plextor burner to run it.
