Exactly. The machine guns are better than not doing any damage at all...but a small quick Mech in close on a Mad Cat (and other slow, heavy Mechs) can pummel the crap out of it. The LRMS can't target in close. The PPC takes too long to heat up while you're getting pasted. An L3 machine gun cluster is actually a fairly decent finishing weapon...but it's not super-quick...which is very important. BTW: The best way to dodge PPC shots is to time a vertical jump *just* right. The shots won't be able to track quick enough and will fly by underneath.Originally posted by: chizowMadcats weakness is that they have no good high RoF medium finishing weapon.Originally posted by: Staples
MadCats are the perfect mech for cheaters, they do all your work for you. The dual PPCs are almost impossible to dodge and they track better and from further out than any other missle while they are the most powerful too. MadCats has the best of everything and it really isn't fair to use them. It is always the MadCats who get the most kills. They are not fun to play and they are not fun to play against if you have more than one on a team.
L3 pulse lasers are devastatingLRMS (longbow or whatever MA calls it) and PPC are nasty for LR and slower firing rate kills, but upgraded pulse lasers mixed in with LRMS is an awesome combo.
Really? Hadn't noticed that...altho I try to keep a fairly close eye on my temp.Madcats overheat a lot faster too if you simply switch between PPCs and LRMS, and you can't target block if you're heated.
Jumping for mobility when your Mech is crippled is the SINGLE-BEST reason to have JJ, IMHO.Catas don't have that problem and I can jump around the entire time too 🙂 Plus if you ever get legged, you can hop to the next armor stash 😀
