Yeah, I actually called 1800 4myxbox and the guy read from the spec manual what it said in this scenario. It said that if all or even part of the code is missing, return the kit for a refund or a replacement. I will check tomorrow if gamestop has any more. I got the last one on Friday but I figure they probably would have some more by now since the one I visited was probably the busiest one and I doubt all their other stores sold out.

Wow that sucks, as long as the store has them in stock you should have no problem.

Yep, best thing to do is go directly and ask for a manager and avoid the other workers.

Here are some other interesting pictures from my Live kit. I think it looks like someone tried to open this and steal the registration code as I know employees do do this with games however I think the scratch off label idea was pure genius so I wouldn't have complained about the box if everything worked. I didn't question buying the thing because they were behind the counter at Gamestop and the guy just shoved it in the bag. I never saw the box till I got home.

I would say that MechAssault is VERY different from any of the MechWarrior games, primarily for the reason you state, altho I would more likely term it "streamlined" rather than "dumbed down."

Whereas MW emphasizes the simulation of piloting a mech, MA is more action-oriented.
MA mechs cannot be customized at all, so no changing of weapons or loadouts is possible.

There are still plenty of strategic aspects to combat, INCLUDING heat management (believe it or not), weapon and countermeasure utilization, and special abilities (including jump jets and cloaking).

The pacing is VERY VERY different,and I think it makes the BattleTech material much more accessible to a wider audience.
I don't see that as a bad thing...since more fans prolly means more BattleTech titles in the future. 😀

If you are a fan of SERIOUS mech simulations tho, then Steel Battalion may be more what you are looking for (assuming you want to shell out $200 for it and that sweet sweet controller)

If you bought it from Gamestop/Funco/Babbages/Software Ect, on the receipt, there will be the sales associates initials in the upper right hand corner next to a long string of numbers (below the store name and phone #). I'm not saying blame the sales guy, I'm just saying if he's around talk to him and then the manager on duty.

Unfortunately this does happen at some stores. Some employees are total dickwads and it gives the company as a whole a bad name. The only time I've given people a hard time about returning products is when they don't have a receipt or its a sensetive product that has a serial.

Thanks TallGeese. I guess this is to to MW4 as Mechwarrior: Dark Ages (clik game) is to classic battletech.




I wish they would've come out with a PC version of this.
