Try throwing a ball with just your hips and legs and see how far it goes (not sure how that's possible, though.🙂). I can throw about 35-40 yards with just my arm and shoulder. Taking an extra step and larger follow-through gives me an extra 15-20 yards.Originally posted by: silverpig

Try throwing a ball with just your arm and see how far it goes. Most of the power comes from your body. Your arm gives it direction.
I understand what you're getting at. I definitely downplayed the importance of a good follow through and you are quite correct that its very important. I hope I didn't give the impression that you should throw with your feet together and stiff upper body - "biceps and upper pecs" includes your arm and shoulder/chest. 🙂 Drop back, plant, one step forward, power from shoulder/biceps/pecs/lower body - in that order.
You know what. I've never had formal training, and the above post is just from my personal experience. I could be totally off my rocker - its been known to happen.
