Mechanical Pencil or Wooden Pencil?

The wife likes her mechanical pencils .... I got her a Japanese one that she loves "Kuru Toga Roulette"

For woodworking I get by with mechanical, but wooden would be better. Though mechanical never needs sharpening.

I've never met a mechanical pencil that I can use. One letter and the lead breaks. Regardless of the thickness of the lead. And worse is trying to use one on something like bricks or wood, they usually can't even make a mark before breaking.

Wooden or it is useless to me.

I've always preferred mechanical pencils but the part that clasps the lead starts to weaken with time and the lead will push back inside on its own (on most that I've used). Part of the reason I think this happens is that I have fabulous handwriting which requires a bit more force than most mortals would use.

Mechanical. Also, I don't really like pens, so I pretty much just stick with mechanic pencils.
