Wow, this thread drew out a lurker. nice.

Wasn't this post that prompted me to stop being a lurker. I made an account years ago purely to use the FS/FT forum which I have used occasionally over the years. Wanted to post a WTB threat but you now have to have 25 posts. That's what brought me into the light of day. Figured actually posting for real instead of 25 bumps or just saying "this" with a quote was better.

spaghetti is pasta. that's it.

spaghetti al marinara, al bolognese, etc, is not "spaghetti."

pasta dishes are about the pasta--the sauce or whatever you typically eat with it, is, basically, a garnish. (well, more substantial than a garnish, of course--but the sauces have much less variety than the many different types of pasta)

I see your no and raise you another no. If I tell someone I'm having spaghetti for supper, its implied that I'm not just eating noodles plain. Spaghetti is noodles and sauce. Otherwise, I'm just eating spaghetti noodles.
