MEANING: http://madworldnews.com/men-painted-fingernail/

Welcome DKMazer!!!
11 years later, the OP has already figured out the answer,
and has since switched colors (and moved on).
Black was all the rage back in 2006,
but lime green is where it's at in 2017 ;)

The meaning of fingernails painted black originated in occult circles. Female initiates to a particular cult, coven, or order would be required to paint their fingernails black to covertly connote their status as a newly sworn initiate during a probationary period (e.g. Process Church during the 1970s). Variations on this occult theme included painting the nail on the ring finger of the left hand black as traditional belief established that a vein (Vena amoris) ran directly from the fourth finger of the left hand to the heart. And, because it had become a Judaeo-Christian custom to wear a ring on the fourth finger of the left hand as a symbol of love for, and fidelity to, ones significant other, the occult significance of a blackened nail on that finger was meant to symbolically blaspheme that custom. And again, because Satanic cults are culturally oppositional in nature, sexual mores are often rejected as unnatural social constructs; thus rape, incest, homosexuality, sexual orgies, infidelity, and sexual abuse of children are often incorporated into satanic ritual behavior. Thus, it became increasingly common for various elements of the counterculture to adopt occult trappings because the two circles often overlap. Eventually, pimps, prostitutes, gay hustlers, pedophiles, and goth musicians etc. began wearing black nail polish as a countercultural fashion statement alone.

More recently however (cir 2017), a single fingernail painted black is show of solidarity with the aims of the "Polished Man campaign" which "strives to raise awareness about children who are – or have been – sexually abused."

SATANISM IN AMERICA

Process Church found on page 7

Reference to fringe (aka neophyte) satanists painting their fingernails black found on pages 8 and 20

Having associated with a number of people who were members of the Process Church (including my girlfriend at that time - cir 1973), I personally witnessed the church mandated occultist practice of female members painting their nails black for the duration of their probation period.

That's a lot of BS.
