Has anyone upgraded Windows Me to 2000 succesfully? I'm thinking about getting rid of Millennium cause I'm getting sick of it. I think I will be much more happy with 2000.

i don't see why you can't upgrade.

why are you sick of winMe?
and before you upgrade make sure all your hardware and software are supported under win2k , otherwise it can be more trouble than it is worth. :)

win2k is wonderful. you will absolutely love it. but only if your machine is on a network of some kind(other than dial-up) anything else and you'll probably end up hating it. remember it's got its roots in NT and networking, so beware. but all in all, i think win2k is a better system. Me makes things too simple for many slightly above average computer users. the best thing to do, though, would be to try it out for a little while to see if it suits you better. good luck with it

Win 2k is really easy to install, comes with most drivers. they are both real similar except for some of the games. I prefer w 2k myself.

I've used Windows 2000 before so I know how it works. Windows Me just dosn't seem like a quality OS. Thanks for the tips. I've made a ghost image of my Windows Me drive just in case things go wrong.

WNxRasputin: I was faced with the same dilemma you're facing. After a 6 week trial I was disillusioned with WinME, so I installed Win2K on my "D" partition and ran a dual boot. It took less than a week for me to decide to dump WinME.

I deleted the Win2K folder on "D," and formatted "C." Then I created the 4-disk set of boot disks for Win2K and did a clean install to "C."

(One other note: I copied my IE "Favorites" folder to another partition. When I was up and running again I just cut and pasted it back into proper directory in Win2K. That way I still had all my favorites!) ;)
