Me Vs. Some Anarchist.

Okay, there is some dumb pothead kid at school that has no friends and just comes over to our lunch table to talk about his opinions and other crap. Anyways, he thinks he is all that because he smokes weed, has a construction job, and is independent and rebels against his parents. His name is "Bubba" or that is what he wants to be called. I know he does this intentionally because he buys clothes at the thrift shop so he looks poor and is different from everyone else. Bubba thinks that capitalism sucks and that we should overthrow the government because his parents aren't as successful as mine or anyone elses. I live in a town where it is mostly middle class and lower class, very few high class people here. Well, he says that the government has done several things wrong like "We are a slave to money." and other stupid stuff like that. We are having this on going debate and everyone of my friends tells him he is wrong. He thinks that the best job is construction and lives in the gutter, litterally. He thinks that I am too rich and a f*cking because I have a vast knowledge of computers. He said that we have to work our asses off and can have a "ucler" if we go to college and work that hard. My dad works for Sun Microsystems and loves his job a lot. We are pretty well off, my mom doesn't have to work and I live nicely. Here is a fight w/ him on AIM. Am I right? He worships this site. www.infoshop.org If it wasn't for this system of government I wouldn't be typing right now or be on the internet.....:Q

bah...some peoples idea of work is different. somone might want to work for a decent living, as in physical labor, and they might think that is more righteous, rather than doing office work or something...

Edit: I just checked that web site too, I love how he is trying to be mr. indvidual but just following someone else instead. Why doesn't he just get a shirt that says "I have no clue who I really am but I'm grasping at straws to identify with something!"

I didn't read you AIM fight, but he does have some valid points. Capitalism is, by far, one of the youngest forms of society in the world. Many other forms have proven their durability, while capitalism is still up-and-coming. Capitalism is all about looking out for #1, and as such, the sense of community that develops is much different than in other societies. In capitalistic societies, community is generated by a mutual self-interest, engendered by selfishness. Many people do tend to live for the money they can earn, and define success in terms of it. As such, I do believe that a lot of people become slaves to their money, and this society does encourage that love of money.

Also, remember, anarchy means a different thing than socialism or communism.

You should both go back to earlier grades in school and learn some grammar (as well as spelling). Some of that guy's stuff was actually difficult to comprehend, due to lack of proper syntax.

He shouldn't care about how you are, and vice versa. You shouldn't waste your time with what you consider to be pond-scum. Go on with your life, and forget this apparently worthless 'loser'. He likely thinks very much the same of you, and he's perfectly entitled to his opinion. You should both stop wasting your time arguing, although he did seem to initiate it... That doesn't make any difference.

Well, you have a good point there. But when he attacks and makes fun of me, my girlfriend and my family I think you would do the samething. You shouldn't stay stuff like that either because I am mature about my responisiblities. This wouldn't be a problem if he didn't approach me about this, he is the one that started to poke fun of my opinions and I didn't appreciate that. :frown:
