Mucman- I only wish the Crate's built in distortion was that good.. That sound you hear is my Boss MetalZone.. the Crate's native crunch is about as heavy as Korn..

Eli, you should try getting a multi FX unit! Take a listen to my recordings A thread of mine that sunk faster than the Titanic!... I used a cheap Zoom 505 pedal plugged straight into my computer for all of em!

How could I plug my MetalZone into the computer? Just plug it straight into the Line In? Hmm...!

Yup! although my pedal had some sort of internal amp (I think)... SQ is not to good through the computer, but I think it is better than a cheap mike to an amp... Of course and expensive mike to the amp would be best.

Hehe.. I've hooked my pedal up through my stereo before, worked ok, i don't think it was too good on my speakers though.. I'll have to get a 1/4" - 1/8" adapter and try that..

yeah... the inner workings of amp speakers and regular computer or home audio speakers are really different... I picked up the jack for a couple bucks at the local Radio Shack
