I just want to throw in my totally off topic $0.02.

Those anti-cheating websites astound me. I didn't know they were out there - but that's really sad. The internet exists solely to facilitate the distribution of information. If you're smart enough to find the information, and someone else is not, you are the winner. That's called real life.

So, you're saying I win? If so, hurrah!

Here is the AHA's (American Historical Association) statement on plagiarism. They are responsible for upholding the standards of historical publications and, although it isn't english, the definitions should be the same.

My advice is to read that thoroughly and, if you still feel, that you are free from blame (ie your paper doesn't constitute any form of plagiarism as defined in that article) go complain to a higher authority. Otherwise, if you unknowning did plagiarize something, suck it up or explain that you didn't know the definition of plagiarism.

Bah, HS English teachers suck @$$ anywho. They have no relevance to anything at all. I had more than one English teacher give me horrendous grades on all my papers mainly because they didn't like me. Heck, I had a feeling she was a friggin prejudiced fat stupid bitch... and guess what, I went to college and was validated.

Even though my writing style isn't great or poetic or enjoyable, it got the point across more than well enough for plenty of As in my social science classes and B+s in literary classes. That HS teacher nearly failed me 3 times (C- is pretty bad if you're trying to get into a good school).

I had one of the highest verbal SAT scores in my HS as well... not bad for a FRIGGIN IMMIGRANT! Yeah... I'm bitter. I wish I had known to take it up to a higher level... but generally you'll see other English teachers back their own. It's like how cops give the "blue wall" as well.

By what I just read, then like, all my papers, along with all my friends papers incuded plagerism. I did END up citing my sources, but it's not like I went to some place and copied and pasted.

Dude you should be happy with a C minus. That is not a well written paper. If the only note worthy personal addition is "the pirates were not amused" you should be happy to pass. You're just spewing off facts in a boring way, and after the grammer mistakes in the first 3 paragraphs I didn't even want to go on. Take the C and run jegro. Also dude, dropping from a B- to a C+ isnt a huge deal although if I cared about school it'd bother me too.

My point is that if that's the only paper that you've tried on all year you should be worrying about your writing skillz more than your grade for the class.
