Me and my Radeon 64...why is the 3dMark Score low?

Hey all,

I just bought a 64 Radeon VIVO from these forums. I did a clean uninstall of my previous ATI card, and installed the beta 7109 drivers, and I get a 3D Mark Score 2001 of 1955.

My system: Asus P3V4X, PIII600E, 256 PC133 Infineon ram, Enermax 330W Power supply.

I'm running Win98SE.

How do I make sure Hyper Z and T&L are enabled?

By the way, the 2D display is great!

Yet Giants:Citizen Kabuto doesn't run THAT great.

scores sound right nore or less. I have gotten 2964 with it running a duron@933 and a the radeon at 200/200

Sang this Radeon tweaker program. It has several profiles to choose from and gives you some real nice control over your Radeon. It has a profle just for 3D Mark2K1...

yes, default 1024x768 32bit test.

I'm very satisfied with radeon le performance, I run it at default 149/149 for regular use.
 
guys i am not real sure but .. 800x600x32 i get 2200 and 16.. with a little extra voerclock i get 2555give or take 100 points sometimes.. thats with my MX.. now shouldnt that Radeon beat mine?
 
My Radeon vivo and P3 933 score around 3100 in 3dmark2k1 default bench without any overclocks in win98se. I get 2800 in win2k.

Don't forget mine is Duron 650, your is P3 800.
Have you ever tested it at default 1024x768x32?
 
When 3dMark2001 first came out, I did a lot of benchmarks with two systems. Changing the cpu speed had a much greater impact than changing the gpu speed.
 
yea at default i score 2056.. but then again,,, MX takes a massive hit in 32 bit 🙂! 🙁 but i am ok with 16🙂.. oh yea guys i thought 3dmark 2k1 wasnt based as much on the CPU as 2ooo was?? am i right ? King your Le does pretty good for that rig you got.. (guess my mx isnt that good after all) have you overclocked your duron at all?
 
Question... if you have a p3 600E then why dont you overclock? Unless it's a 600EB and then I understand the limitations of fsb overclocking.

I had tried 900 in winter, some lockup.
800 is very stable.
I'm using the retail hsf, temperature goes very high when overclocking,
so I don't overclock as the performance difference from 650 to 800 or even 900 is not so significant.
