Its not as impressive when you practice kicking a ball into the goals before you play a real game.

Shut up.
You touch men.

The point being to the original flame, was that they're better with some flow to it. Even if the stunts individually are less impressive, doing a run is more enjoyable.

ie:
A guy on a dirt bike going over a 50' jump vs. a guy on a dirt bike going over some whoops, hanging a hairpin, doing a 30' jump then doubling a pair of 10's.

This parkour stuff is one of the dumbest things to come out of the 90s. It just remind me of 6 year olds running around in those McD's play things.

Shut up.

Rehearse than film it.

Part of it is adapting to the terrain on the fly.

And when in doubt, edit the "prep" out to make it look like a run.

We will leave you to play with your Power Rangers then.

What do you find dumb about it? It's a pretty good outdoor activity for staying in shape and be exciting at the same time. I compare it to surfing/snowboarding/skateboarding or aggressive roller blading.

Your average male ATOT'er looks like young George Clooney with more muscles. Girls, well they're all Alba or better (since Alba is a dog).

Everyong makes six-figures+, sports a Bentley as their daily driver, and no matter what you've done, they've done it better and bigger, even with something as obscure as parkour.

Enjoy your stay.

some upper body strength would do wonders for scaling those walls (so you don't end up looking like you're doing a vertical moonwalk).

How can I build that kind of strength though. I do pushups and thats about it.

To all of you flaming - its a lot harder than it looks. I just thought you'd think the stack was funny.

No, I didn't look it up but I got the idea. The word pissed me off enough seeing it on the front page I finally watched the video. I was hoping this thread would die before I stooped low enough to watch the movie...

I have to say, wasn't impressed...

Pullups will help the first part of the motion (jump, grab wall, pull self up).
Dips will help the second part of the motion (after you've pulled yourself up to chin/chest level, it becomes a dip movement).

And, finally, muscle-ups (when you get strong enough to do them) will help you train to scale those walls in one smooth motion. One rep. Multiple reps.

The most impressive imho

The guy does seem to be better, but the video was VERY irritating.

edit: someone posted a new link, youtube doesn't work here...have to check it out.

That was the guy that started parkour for the most part....the idea behind 'free running' is to simply cover any terrain placed in front of you as if it were not an obsticle.

To the OP to build strength for this kind of thing pushups probably is one of the least effective exercises.

Grip, shoulder and back strength will be critical on lifts so I would do hammer work for grip, various press, shrugs and laterals for shoulder and pull ups for the back.

Lower body is important for the jumps so box jumping, squats and deadlifts would probably be effective.

Then core strength to help stabilitze your body as you are navigating.
