Guess that could be why I have no memory of it existing. The McDonalds specialty I'd love to see again is the McCheddar. Rye bun, cheddar cheese, and grilled onion. They used to release them every so often, but I bet it's been 20-30 years I've seen it.
Got me to look to make sure I wasn't crazy. I got the name wrong, unless they changed it somewhere along the way.Guess that could be why I have no memory of it existing.
If I ever make it back to Wisconsin for a work trip, I'll have to check that out. They have a decent knock off at kwik trip year round. I'll pick one up when its on sale and i forgot to pack my lunch.
I worked at McDs when those things were on the menu. I didn't know any workers who would eat them.Got me to look to make sure I wasn't crazy. I got the name wrong, unless they changed it somewhere along the way.
That's because Americans have the tastebuds of toddlers. Rye bread and cheddar's too bold for the typical American. Also why it's hard to find rye bread anymore(with the fucking seeds you philistines!).I worked at McDs when those things were on the menu. I didn't know any workers who would eat them.![]()

That's perfectly acceptable. My third favorite spirit after scotch and Irish.I prefer to drink my rye![]()
Ditto. I was slinging them in the late 80's. I kind of liked the taste of the rye bun. The cheddar was awesome on fries.I worked at McDs when those things were on the menu. I didn't know any workers who would eat them.![]()
They put the cheese on the cool side! WTF!?!?I really didn't like hamburgers until I tried the McDLT as a teen. It's unique packaging would "Keep the hot side hot, and the cool side cool".
That's probably why it failed. It was also a lot of waste. I'm ok with the unmelted cheese though. They put the cheese on the cool side! WTF!?!?
that was actually good, the mcrib was always terribleThat's probably why it failed. It was also a lot of waste. I'm ok with the unmelted cheese though.
Jason Alexander was in the commercials.

Hey, think about the poor guy that's gotta go around giving all those zebras syphilis! If I want to eat syphilitic zebra meat . . . I'll go to the source. No idea what "the source" is and I hope to never find out.
It was total crap when it first came out so it didn't have much room to slide and remain edible.I recall seeing complaints over the last 20+ years about the steady decline of the McRib. I'm pretty sure they changed how they hold it. It's fresher now, and they just swab it with sauce at the time of making.
Back in the 90s there was just a big steamer and we kept pans of the things swimming in the sauce all day. You'd get one at the end of the night, throw some extra pickles, onions, AND bacon on it, and it was good. At least for an early 20s-something on a budget.
