McRib is Back!

Seeing this thread gave me flashbacks, and it's good to see that 22 years ago I felt the same way.

McRib is kind of disappointing. It starts delicious, and gets less delicious as the sandwich disappears. It's also a fucking mess, and messy food pisses me off.

That's because Americans have the tastebuds of toddlers. Rye bread and cheddar's too bold for the typical American. Also why it's hard to find rye bread anymore(with the fucking seeds you philistines!).

I love me some good rye bread. It is one of my favorites.

In the unlikely circumstance that you find yourself on I-71 between Cleveland and Columbus Ohio there is a little family owned cheese shop called Grandpas Cheesebarn in Ashland. They have a Swiss cheese infused with rye seeds that is to die for.

Ditto. I was slinging them in the late 80's. I kind of liked the taste of the rye bun. The cheddar was awesome on fries.

I really didn't like hamburgers until I tried the McDLT as a teen. It's unique packaging would "Keep the hot side hot, and the cool side cool".

I had a coworker who would deep fry the small shrimp made for their shrimp salad. They were pretty darn good.

That's probably why it failed. It was also a lot of waste. I'm ok with the unmelted cheese though.

I recall seeing complaints over the last 20+ years about the steady decline of the McRib. I'm pretty sure they changed how they hold it. It's fresher now, and they just swab it with sauce at the time of making.

Back in the 90s there was just a big steamer and we kept pans of the things swimming in the sauce all day. You'd get one at the end of the night, throw some extra pickles, onions, AND bacon on it, and it was good. At least for an early 20s-something on a budget.

It was total crap when it first came out so it didn't have much room to slide and remain edible.

Historic note: the guy who invented the McRib also came up with the recipe for the Chicken McNugget. How did the world hurt him that a man could be so twisted?
