(Edit: I wanted to end the thread title with a question mark ("?") but somehow that did not work. I did not mean to convey a fake news.)

That he dared to assuage the fear of our allies "behind the president's back" is allegedly a cause of discord. But it is not difficult to imagine Bannon fanning Trump's ego so that Trump graces his bedside more often at night.

https://www.bloomberg.com/view/arti...gton-loves-general-mcmaster-but-trump-doesn-t

McMaster's allies and adversaries inside the White House tell me that Trump is disillusioned with him. This professional military officer has failed to read the president -- by not giving him a chance to ask questions during briefings, at times even lecturing Trump.

Presented with the evidence of this buyer's remorse, the White House on Sunday evening issued a statement from Trump: "I couldn't be happier with H.R. He's doing a terrific job."

Other White House officials however tell me this is not the sentiment the president has expressed recently in private. Trump was livid, according to three White House officials, after reading in the Wall Street Journal that McMaster had called his South Korean counterpart to assure him that the president's threat to make that country pay for a new missile defense system was not official policy. These officials say Trump screamed at McMaster on a phone call, accusing him of undercutting efforts to get South Korea to pay its fair share.

It will not be long before we hear how McMaster is a "cuck" and a "globalist." I really think those labels are getting quite tiresome at this point. Some imagination and creative thinking is needed.

I believe Trump wishes he could solve his HR problems as easily as his soul brother in the DPRK.

His habit of creating problems for himself and then having his battalion of barristers take care of them just won't work in his present situation. Jackass corners himself easier than a ball bearing in a tilted box.

Word twitter among the respectable reporters is that Bannon pushed this story because he hates McMaster. Supposedly Trump really likes him.

If true, the above is enough to get somebody fired no matter which administration.

I'm more inclined to believe he is receiving the same kind of shit Mattis has been lately, being another who sees merit and not political affiliation. Mattis having Dems under him, even worse former Obama people!, has been a bitter point of contention among some of the GOP.

I hope McMaster, a good guy by all accounts, has the ability to hop off this boat before it sinks. He should take whatever opportunity to do that IMO.

Where was this respect and reverence for the office of president when Obama was in office?

Remember this thread? https://forums.anandtech.com/thread...iran-against-nuclear-deal-with-obama.2423906/

So you'll support Israel and republicans scheming against an Obama WH to address Congress on the Iran Deal, but McMaster doing this (being right) is a big deal? We had already agreed to pay for THAAD.

Fine partisan double standard you have there hack.

Probably worth a read http://foreignpolicy.com/2017/05/09/the-knives-are-out-for-hr-mcmaster-trump-bannon-nsc/

"Bloomberg’s Eli Lake had a more devastating (as well as far better sourced) story on Monday about McMaster’s difficult relationship with Trump, who has spoken derisively to McMaster in meetings. According to Lake, Trump screamed at McMaster on a phone call for undercutting the president’s effort to get South Korea to pay for a missile defense system for which the United States had already agreed to foot the bill.

Bannon’s critique of McMaster also makes a cameo: “On policy, the faction of the White House loyal to senior strategist Steve Bannon is convinced McMaster is trying to trick the president into the kind of nation building that Trump campaigned against.”

I think we'll be hearing lots about Ezra Cohen-Watnick in the near future. ;)

It's got nothing to do with "respect and reverence for the office of president".

McMaster works directly for Trump. You don't over rule your boss.

The issue you raise above is a completely different situation. You can pretty much always count on the other party to oppose the Prez and the Prez can't fire them. WTF another country, like Israel, has to do with IDK.

Moron.

Yeah no. You can and should over rule your boss. Especially when it's at a global level and literally millions of lives are at stake. This shit stain sitting in the oval office has never been told no his entire life. Thank the heavens there are at least some actual adults surrounding him that are trying to amend his damage.

Your hypocrisy regarding respect for the PoTUS is pretty clear to anyone who bothers to look. It boils down to you comparing McMaster reassuring an ally with the truth, to Boehner and others actively trying to subvert and influence official WH policy wrt ongoing negotiations with Iran. Israel, their ambassador Dermer really, aided them.

That's WTF you stupid partisan twat. Save the insults for when you have the integrity to make them count, and that sure as shit isn't now.
