If you take a look at the first picture, you can see that the guy has it parked right beside another McLaren... :)

I noticed that too. I remember reading an article a few years ago that of the original 100 produced there were only like 6 in the U.S. and 2 of them were owned by Ralph Lauren.....hmmm could it be?

Rowen Atkinson (Mr. Bean) also owns one. :Q

Owned.. that was until he rear-ended some lady

BUWAHAHAHA :D

pwned by a Rover Metro! :D

That is exactly why I would not want a car like that.

3-way intercom...3 seats...noise-cancelling headsets...hmm...my guess is that in order to carry out a conversation in the car while driving, you need to use noise-cancelling headsets!!! :Q

I've never met him, but my girlfriend has many times. Went to their baby shower, wedding, and whatnot. She tells me his wife is a hot trophy wife :D

Sadly, their newborn died recently :(

i'd rather have a Ferrari F50... :D

The F1 blows the F50 away, IMO. Even 8 years later, nobody has ever made a road car as ambitious as the McLaren, or one with anything close to the McLaren's performance. The upcoming Bugatti may finally best it, but to date the McLaren is the most desirable car ever built. Curiously, to my way of thinking the older Ferrari supercars are the most desirable; among the modern Ferraris I would rank them in this order: 288 GTO, F40, Enzo, F50.

You are wrong.... The F40 is faster than the F1 quite a bit faster. The problem with the F40 was that production was never limited like it was supposed to be. They started out with production numbers of ~349 and ended up making 1,000 to meet the demand. The F50 was slower than the F40 but still had the same production figures. Even now people are wondering what the production numbers of the Enzo are going to be. Ferrari claims the Enzo to be as fast as the F1 and slightly faster in some areas. Originally the F40 was slated for a mere 349 that number has already been raised to 399 and who knows how much more after that. Mclaren was also originally stated for a production number of ~300 but they only managed to make 99 of them plus 25 GT cars. A combination of a global recession plus their racing partnerships

As for faster cars there is the Pagani Zonda C12S ($400K) as well as the MB CLK GTR - this thing is a beast ($1.5 million) as well as the F40. I am sure there are cars out there that are probably faster but I cant think of any at the top of my head. Maybe the 288 GTO but I am not sure as to how heavy it is - it had more power than the F40 but was a total wildcard.

The F1 wins in this category. It is a very useable every day super car even though most people never used it as a DD. It is very practical and easy to control just like a 360 is today. Dont get me wrong I would take an MC over every car except for the Zonda.

FYI the ultimate supercar today is the Sl55. Not because its the fastest but the fact that it is the first true supercar that you can use as a daily driver. Those who say a 996TT is must be nuts.

Huh? The F1 is both quicker and MUCH faster than the F40.

F40:

0-60 - 3.8s
1/4 mi - 11.8s
Top speed - 201 mph

F1:

0-60 - 3.2s
1/4 mi - 11.6s
Top speed - 240 mph

The F1 is also much faster than the Pagani Zonda C12S.

Well considering how old the F40 is... i would expect it to be "slower"... but i don't think the F1 can ever match the rawness of the F40.... :D

Well, I actually talked to a guy who used his 996 TT as a daily driver. The SL may be a great choice... but I think I would prefer something that can geniunely tear up a race track. A Ruf Porsche or a Mucielago both fit that bill. Now with VW holding Lambo's reins, I would trust a Lambo's reliability a quite a bit more than Ferrari's. But even still, as a true daily driver? Even though it's not that fast in stock form... a Skyline Nur has all the bells and whistles to get you through your day safe and sound. I personally prefer an AWD platform.

That "daily driver" you speak of overheats in traffic... just like race cars. Practicality ummm... i dunno... that thing has no flywheel so good luck driving around with numerous stop and go. :) ...and 11.5mpg isnt exactly everyday super car... but then again if you had the money to buy this sucker that wouldn't be a problem. :D But i still don't think it's practicality even comes close to a 360... or even the most practical "supercar" today... the 911. :)

If I'm not mistaken, this car is being sold by McLaren dealer here in AZ. They're located in Scottsdale, AZ. Besides having a few F1s there they also sell other exotic and the most desirable cars there. You just have too see the fence and security on that dealership! :)
