MCE 2005

If you have supported hardware, and you want the media center functionaity.... You can 'recreate it' on XP pro or home with a number of third party apps (usually easier if you have a mix of hardware, MCE can be pretty picky on it's HCL).

I just replaced one of my Tivos with MCE and I love it. But you definitely need to make sure you get the right hardware. Nvidia video cards tend to work a little better than ATI, and both the Hauppauge 150 and 500 TV tuners work well.

I think its worth buying if are building or planning on building a MCE PVR rig. I'm using ATI cards and it works very well. I've driven the same rig with a 6800 graphics card, and it worked very good as well. The AIW 9700pro card works much better with my Display, so its my preference.
