MCE 2005 install

So here's the deal...I have a desktop with XP Home on the HD. It also has a blank HD onto which I'd like to install MCE 2005. However, the MCE disc is a DVD and this computer's DVD drive is broken. I have a laptop with a DVD drive also on my home network.

Can I load MCE 2005 onto the desktop box's blank HD while that machine is booted into windows XP, using the laptop's DVD drive as the source drive? Or does the install have to be done booting from the installation DVD?

Thanks in advance!
