Mcdonald's Sued for Maggot-Infested Cheeseburger
Updated: Tue, Jul 03 7:46 AM EDT

DETROIT (Reuters) - An 11-year old Detroit boy filed a $1 million lawsuit against fast food giant McDonald's Corp on Monday after he allegedly ate part of cheeseburger that was infested with maggots, his lawyer said.

The boy, Vincent Ingram, discovered the maggots after chomping into the cheeseburger at home on June 19, said the attorney, Arnold Reed.

"His sister is standing next to him and starts freaking out, because she sees these things crawling around his mouth and out of his mouth. She starts screaming," Reed told Reuters in an interview.

Reed said Ingram swallowed at least half a dozen of the maggots. As evidence, his mother saved the rest of the cheeseburger and the boy's vomit.

"Since this incident, he's been freaking out. He won't eat," Reed added.

The lawsuit filed in Wayne County Circuit Court in Michigan says Ingram ate the cheeseburger shortly after it was bought, but does not specify in what amount of time.

McDonald's in a statement called the allegations "questionable," and said it had not received any facts to back up the claims.

"We have not been provided with any evidence to validate this claim," the company's statement said.

What they didn't tell you was that he let the cheeseburger sit out for a week before eating it.

They can't. And theres no way they can prove a thing unless they have evidence which is HIGHLY unlikely. I doubt the kid ran home and put it in a sealed container, maggots and all. The only way the maggots could have feasibly gotten on there is 1. the kid put them on there, 2. whoever cooked the food put them on there or 3. they were never on there and the kids just made it up.

Seems a little fishy to me. Even at 11, I looked at my food before I ate it. And if the maggots are crawling out your mouth....you'd know it.

They'll grill the kid and his mom, and it'll turn out he did it, just like the needle in the pepsi scare.

Hey anything's possible with McDonald's.

I once found a chicken bone in a Chicken McNugget. Which was actually pretty odd now that I know that those nuggets aren't even made out of real chicken. I'm still wondering where the hell that bone came from.

The head wasn't in McNuggets, it was in fried chicken(some locals have it, where I dunno, just like some have pizza and hot dogs, or lobster sandwiches). When you have mechanically seperated food(ie a machine seperates, the good parts from the bad, you are bound to get some weird chicken parts from time to time. Not all McDonalds are the same, its dependent on who owns the store, some people run a tighter ship, others don't, I have a clean McDonalds near me.

It would be easy to do...there is probably a co-conspirator that works at that mcdonald's who took a burger home...let it rot in a fly infested holding tank...then called up this person and told her he had the goods ready and to meet him up there.

Then, when she shows up with her kids the guy "cooks" the hamburger for them (a special order no-doubt) and thus the woman and her kids end up with the grisly mess and share the prize money with him/her.

i've stopped going to McDonalds for a reason. I think McDonalds is the worse fastfood chain ever and this just makes me sick, and I haven't had breakfast or lunch yet, so its not really helping me. YUCK!

Taco Bell is worse. McDonalds isn't all that bad, it depends on how the owner of the given McDonalds runs it.

Personally I like Jack and the Box, but the stupid town I live in blocked them from building here. I dont feel like driving a 45 minute, 10 mile drive when I want a burger, well most of the time.

This is HIGHLY suspect. The kid claims he got the burger, bit into it, and found LIVE maggots. Now, I too want to know how maggots can survive being cooked???

I'm sorry, but the burden is on the kid and his mother to prove they didn't plant the maggots. Had it been dead maggots, the story would be slightly more believable.
