McDonalds Monopoly was definitely pretty awesome when I was in elementary school. Pepsi Points too.

And then collecting the Poke'mon toys in the Burger King kids meals lol.

Good god I ate a lot of shit back then.

The thing about the McD's game is unless you go there all the time and play it religiously, OR look up which game pieces are rare, you will probably end up throwing away the winning game piece. It's like when drink companies started printing codes on the underside of the caps instead of just saying "free drink" or something. You have to go to some website and register to even find out if you won anything, and obviously I'm not doing that.

Um, isn't it always the highest value piece?

I play this every year. I just wish it lasted longer. :)

I won lots of food prizes and red box rentals.

Anyone ever won?

I haven't play the game at McD but I did a few times at Albertsons because I do my groceries shopping there. Always missed a piece or two to win. <sad panda>

Pretty sure the Monopoly game has been known to be thoroughly rigged for some time.

Apparently, the company contracted to produce it for so many years was handing out the rare pieces to family and friends year after year after year. I think this was big news, actually...that led to McDonald's ending that contract and working with another group.

Well, I'm late to this thread...someone else has likely posted the very same info.

I don't play either game, but the difference between this and the lottery is that more than one person can (and often times does) win the lottery.

Ever since someone in corporate McDonalds gave out the rare pieces to their friends, I quit playing the game and also quit (as much as possible) going to McDonalds. Why should I think that this contest is not also fixed? Fool me once shame on you.

This year sucks. I got nothing except for a couple of fries, some frappe, and My Coke Rewards points (a.k.a. the most useless thing, ever).

Usually I at least got some RedBox coupons, or like that one time when I got an XBOX 360 console.

Ehh it's always a easy way to get some free food as they have plenty of those.

I do have some cousins who won a trip to florida from it but this was many years ago.

Picked up a large orange juice in the drive thru the other day, and won a free frappe. I typically am not a free coupon person, but I said eff it and went back that evening for my delicious prize. It was caramel, and magnificent.

About an hour later, THE worst bubble guts kicked me in the balls, and didn't stop until next morning. That'll teach me.

I bet the OP felt all smug about making this post. Feeling smug about calling out idiots who don't know about rare pieces is like feeling good about yourself watching freaks on Maury.

You can write in and get "free" pieces if you want. You have to send a self-addressed stamped envelope to them and they'll mail them back to you.

I remember years ago when they had the Best Buy bucks you were guaranteed to win something (I think $1 was the minimum amount) but some of them had $5+. Even with the cost of two stamps you came out ahead with the guaranteed dollar. So my wife and I sat down a couple nights and wrote out a bunch and mailed them in. This was before Steam sold everything for couch cushion change, so it kept me in new game releases for a while :)

Plus we got a bunch of food. Never got any of the "rare" pieces though.
