The only way to do the return is to "lose" your receipt and return w/o receipt, so you just get store credit, probably at whatever price the item has been on sale for recently. Probably have to also tell them it was a gift since they'll usually try to look up the receipt for you.

I know that the people above posting that they're planning to do returns probably already know this - but I'm sure there's people reading this thread who WOULDN'T understand this and have issues...

BestBuy has new(?) policy where you can't return anything without a receipt that is over $50. I had a bluetooth headset valued at $90 and BB wouldn't take it back w/out a receipt... Just a warning for those planing on buying big ticket items to return to buy that Xbox360...

You will put a "return address" on a SASE that has the same (yours) "mailing address"? That doesn't make sense to me.
The "return address" seems to refer to the outer envelope.

Can anyone comment as to how much free food to expect from 100 SASE? I remember getting a free burger/fries/etc almost every time I actually got pieces at McDonalds.

OP, you seem to be way smarter than be able to make 25 bucks an hour with all that tough calculations. You'd probably should get a job at Lawrance Livermore and make 25 mill a year. :]

Let them try. Lawyers would love to take a case like this and I could use a "McDonalds spilt coffee" kind of settlement.

Additionally, anything you can buy at Best Buy you can buy elsewhere for cheaper, so it's not really 40% you're saving because you're overpaying by at least 20% in the first place.

QFT.

This seems like a pathetic waste of time.

What was your reply? Wonderful and insightfull for all to read?

Some people have extra time like I do...sitting here at work at a computer for 8 hours just browsing the internet...

So yes I plan to do this because I have time and I like the CHANCE(not saying its going to happen) of being able to get $150-$550 worth of best buy bucks for like only $100....I guess thats just me though.

So for you people that keep posting..."This is a waste of time" and thats it...Then your wasting your time and my time by posting that.

Don't plan, do it now. The available BBB is like 37 million... less than half compare to last year's 78mil

I want to know also.

Do I put my return address and the McDonalds address in the outer envelop and only my return address on the SASE?

I got a pack of 20 stamps today going to send in for 10, cheaper than going to Mcdonalds several times.

Also on the return address do you have to put United States or USA, the instructions say after state, should it be after zip code.

Example
John doe
55 fake st.
new york, NY 10000
USA

or
John Doe
55 fake st
new york, NY USA
10000

Some non-VTer works out a deal and sends in a bunch of envelopes using a willing VTer's address. The VTer would say "Put down 'A' as my middle initial". When the game pieces come back to the VTer, all the envelopes with a middle initial of A get opened and the game pieces forwarded in one envelope to the actual non-VT recipient for a 15 cent charge per envelope. The next person who contracts with the VTer gets a middle initial of 'B', etc.

The non-VTer still saves 24 cents per request in postage because requests going to Vermont addresses don't have to include return postage on the SASE. The VTer doesn't have to address/mail anything except one envelope to forward the game pieces.

From reading the rules, I don't see that this would be a violation.

Eh, don't bother opening them-not only would that add unneccessary time (it sounds easy but if you're doing this as a service to others it'd take you forever to open a few thousand) but it doesn't really save that much on shipping costs.

Just dump all the envelopes you got for a person into a big old cardboard box and ship it to them via UPS. Even if they got like 10 pounds worth of envelopes back it wouldn't be that much money-and 10 pounds of envelopes is a hell of a lot of envelopes.

Then you'd need at least a few fake ID or friends willing to do returns for you, because major retailers keep track of who's been returning stuff (that's why they ask for ID). It's all run through a database shared with other retailers to weed out people who always do returns without receipts.

For all the years this thing has been running, they have never cared whether or not you handwrote everything or printed it or whatever. Seriously, the people who are mailing you the game pieces probably don't care lol.

BTW half the fun of this is actually peeling all those darn game pieces =P
And all that free mickey D's...mmmm

Of course I always end up with way too many of the crappy MickeyD food prizes, like small fries and such. Plus it's unhealthy as hell.

BTW if you use something like Stamps.com you can print stamps right onto the envelopes. However, I ended up killing my printer one year trying to feed it envelopes to print on (a long time ago-not even for this contest) so I dunno. Also, when I was doing it for the contest the printer would often misfeed the envelopes, or print it badly, or whatever. Especially if you own an inkjet printer and you use cheap envelopes, they don't always hold ink well at all.

The easiest way of getting game pieces is just order a large water next time your there at MCd?s it?s only .25 here where I?m at and you get two game pieces. (Most of the time they might not even charge you for water)
It?s a lot cheaper than paying for stamps and saves your hand from all that writing.

Thanks for the info OP.

BTW, for X-mas returns Best Buy doesn't require receipts. Just tell them it was a gift. They will either issue you store credit or ask you to find something in the store. Sure most of you already know that.

You don't get the Best Buy bucks with a Large drink...Only chicken selects or chicken sandwhiches get best buy bucks...(Just went there 30 minutes ago) But I did buy chicken selects and my g/f bought a chicken sandwhich and we got $5 and a $1
