Hey snyder have you ever heard of genetics? Also, do you think a nutritious diet can actually prevent genetic diseases? Do you think AIDs can be prevented? Can hypo/hyper thyroidism be prevented? The answer is for now is no. Do you think eating healthy might prevent illnesses like cancer? To some extent, but the healthiest people get cancer, and its not like those are isolated cases.

Yet you critisize modern medicine.

The whole problem with modern medicine, particularly cancer treatments, are that the focus is on eliminating the symptoms, NOT the initial problem that is causing the illness. Think about it...when a doctor sees a tumor he thinks, "Hmm, we should either poison it with radiation or else go in and surgically remove it." Those are both fine, but even if they work, they don't eliminate the reason WHY the body is generating bad cells(see cancer). A tumor is the body's way of holding bad cells hostage so they don't invade the body...it is your own body PROTECTING you from bad cells trying to get into the body. I agree that ridding the body of a sac of bad cells is a good idea, but the focus of medicine should be to rid the body of whatever is generating bad cells(Generating bad cells ->See unhealthy body -> unhealthy body -> Seebad or improper nutrition

Have you ever thought that maybe they are working on eliminating the source of the problem? I guess you never learn about vaccines either. Remember those shots you got when you were young? They protected you against things like smallpox (if you're old enough) and the hepatitis variants. As you can see, medical science works. The only thing you can do after the symptoms apear is maximize the person's lifespan and minimize the pain. Would you prefer nothing to be done while a real cure is being found? The cause of cancer is uncertain at the moment, and nutrition does factor into it. But its not the cure all that you make it out to be.

Maybe If I eat healthier from now on I can triumph over the family history of breast/prostate cancer....

To those above who are trying to rationalize unhealthy eating by equating a big mac with 5 years off of your life, take a look at some statistics about the increasing number of 40 to 50 year olds dying of heart attacks every year. When you are dying of a heart attack a good 30 years earlier than you had "planned", I have a feeling you will be telling yourself "damn, I shouldn't have eaten that big mac."

Being a vegetarian does't make you live longer, it just seems like it :)

The most important thing in how long you will live is you parents !

Some people can eat all the junk they want, smoke 2 packs a day, and live to 100.

Others can eat Health, jog, etc. and drop dead before they are 40.

Your best bet is to eat a generally balanced diet, and stay in shape.
If you spend to much time worrying about every little thing you eat, you'll miss out on the joys of life & worry yourself to a premature death.

OK...This is a HOT DEAL because...........ok, why is this a hot deal?

I usually wouldn't even bother to respond to a thread full of crap like this but here goes.

1. Hey jjjayb, you mentioned "chemical free" in your post. The last time I checked, WATER was a chemical. Unless there's something about you that I don't know, you're still a carbon based life-form. Sodium and chlorine are elements, but unless you never put salt on your food you're ingesting those. People need to learn that "chemical free" is total nonsense.

2. People need to just accept that there are several different ways of living a life. If you don't want to eat meat, fine. If you don't want to eat anything made with any animal product, fine. If you want to run around naked in public, fine (if you're a cute blonde, please call me first). Just leave people alone and let them live their lives.

3. ss284 makes a good point. Bad cells come from unhealthy bodies, which come from improper nutrition???? Gimme a break. I won't say that improper nutrition doesn't play some role in disease, but to say that it is the sole cause (which is what you're doing if you don't at least admit the possibility that there are other causes) is just plain stupid.

Now, Snyder, if you want to through quotes around.....try this one.
"What is there that is not poison? All things are poison and nothing (is) without poison. Solely the dose determines that a thing is not a poison." Paracelsus (1493-1541)

End of rant. I'd apologize for thread crapping, but this one's pretty much destroyed anyway.:disgust:

Thanks for the deal..but this isn't why I'm posting

First off, ss, stop being a sensitive prick when someone attacks your o so precious fast food chain.

Secondly, your logic is disgusting. "If we can't beat them, let's join them." True that nutrition isn't the deciding factor about how healthy a person will be, but it's definitely a freaking MAJOR one. But even though nutrition isn't the only factor, you're using that as an excuse to just let loose and eat all the unhealthy junk foods possible. And people wonder why America is so obese. It's because people like you run rampant with the mindset that we might as well not bother watching what we eat simply because other factors regarding our health comes into play...then turn around and sue restaurants for making us fatasses.

You can throw chemistry, food, etc. tidbits around but that still does not negate having a good diet directly affects a person's health.

You assummed pretty much everything you said. Read it over again, and you'll see that I said none of that. I simply stated that a healthy diet won't solve everything, which is what Snyder81 said. And yeah, America is obese, but again you assume that I'm a fatass, which I'm not, and you also assume I dont watch what I eat, which I do. I was just responding to an uneeded thread crap.

What's to be more clear? If you want to read the book, read it. If you want to eat at McDonalds,
go ahead, that's your choice as well. Although I would prefer that someone yell at me after they've
read the book.

As for pushing crap on anyone, I think that's what McDonalds does that to millions of Americans everyday.
"Every month more than 90 percent of American children eat at McDonald's; the average American eats
three hamburgers and four orders of french fries every week. " Of course this doesn't include only McDonalds but
it's the biggest.

"What's in all those hamburgers? They're most likely made from the meat of worn-out dairy cows (generally the least healthy cattle stock), which spend their days packed in feedlots full of pools of manure. Each burger contains parts of dozens or even hundreds of cows, increasing the likelihood that a sick one will spread its pathogens widely.
Until 1997, those cows, by nature designed to be herbivorous, were fed "livestock waste" -- rendered remains of dead sheep and cattle, along with the remains of millions of dead cats and dogs purchased every year from animal shelters. Thank God the law was changed: Now they're fed only the remains of horses, pigs and poultry. And if you think your fries are animal-free, guess again. While McDonald's no longer cooks them in beef tallow, a process that until 1990 gave the chain's french fries more saturated fat per ounce than its burgers, McDonald's still acknowledges that some of the flavor comes from "animal products."

Mmmmmm, tasty!

But seriously, people can do whatever they want, I personally do feel more people should read the book.
Peace.

We agree with you but~ hamburgers are just too damn delicious.

I just had myself a Double-Double with raw onion from In-N-Out , side order of freshly cut fries (never frozen hehe) and a thick strawberry shake. Yumm Yummm.

I've never went to McDonald's after In-N-Out.

Steve, ignorance truly must be bliss. Do I believe much disease can be prevented, YES! Do I think hyper/hypo thyroidism can be prevented? Usually, YES! Steve, the entire point of of my postings here was not to personally criticize you, but simply to point out that blind faith in modern medicine is not doing anyone any good.

"I guess you never learned about vaccinnes either." Steve, I know more about vaccines then you ever will care to know, unless you take the time to do some serious research. There is a good reason I was never vaccinated and never will be. My children will also not be vaccinated. Do you have any idea what else comes in vaccines besides dying cells? Did you really think that entire needle full of liquid was dying cells? Surprise, it's not!

Have you ever taken the time study publically available statistics regarding disease trends and vaccines? Vaccines and their additives are the biggest scam that has ever been pulled on the American public. Do you really want to risk brain damaging your new child without doing research first? I would strongly encourage you to check this book out at Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/1929487037/ It's called "The Sanctity of Human Blood : Vaccination is Not Immunization."

2ndgunman: I believe the quotes are you searching for are:

"All drugs are poisons, the benefit depends on the dosage." Philippus
Theophrastrus Bombast that of Aureolus Paracelsus (1493-1541)

and

"All that man needs for health and healing has been provided by God in
nature, the challenge of science is to find it." Philippus Theophrastrus
Bombast that of Aureolus Paracelsus (1493-1541)

And do I live in Montana and write manifestos??? I would think that you could come up with something better than that to try and discredit me...It's the equivalent of a little kid saying, "You're stoooopid!"

Again, like I told mindstorm, read through the post carefully before making a comment. If you actually take the time to read it, you will see that I specificaly mentioned The answer is for now is no.

In all your posts you are basically saying that modern medicine is untrustworthy, and basically bad for our health. You critisize things like animal fat in our soap(which is how soap is made), flouride in our toothpaste(which is naturally present in ground water), and i guess vaccines are horrible too. Yes, I realize there are more than just dead pathogens in a vaccine, and there is a small percentage of people who have serious side effects due to the vaccine. But its better than say... half the population being infected by smallpox.

Oh, and when your dying of cancer, aids, and the like, all you have if blind faith, and modern medicine is the only place that a person can put his/her faith, other than maybe religion, and family support.

I guess you dont travel alot either, because most countries have a list of vaccines that are required before entering their country.

I don't care whether it kills you early or not. I am gonna enjoy what I eat. I exercise daily. I use deodorant and soap (my wife insists, hehehe). If something is gonna kill me, let it, I just don't care about the healthy living. I just enjoy living and leave the rest up to GOD.. I have read that crap and just dont care. Most people on this board don't care either. This thread was about $.39 hamburgers. NOT WHAT IS GOOD OR NOT GOOD FOR YOU. If you want to post your propaganda, do it in Off Topics forum or are you afraid no one will notice or respond to it there.

Now off to McD's for 10 of those burgers. I only eat at McD's or any other fast food place about once a week. I know its bad for me and my arteries/blood pressure/cholesterol/fat content. I still don't care. I will not be suing them for it. I choose to eat what I want. Thankfully that is still free choice in this country.

Steve, I put my faith in the body's design and it's ability to heal itself. The body is an incredible machine, but you need to feed it the right raw materials in order for it to produce the desired result. And thyroid disorders are caused by an obvious inbalance in the body, they don't just "happen." I certainly agree that stress and other factors play a part in thyroid disorder, but the common medical diagnosis is "This person is depressed, put them on Prozac." It should be "This person's thyroid is not producing hormone's properly, maybe their body is not being given all of the materials/vitamins/minerals/nutrients that it needs to properly produce thyroid hormones."

Maybe it's just me, but it seems like the obvious answer would be to arm the body with the nutrients that it needs to naturally produce thyroid hormones and correct the inbalance. If you put 87 octane gasoline in an engine that requires 92 octane, will it still run? Yes, it will run. Will it have problems? There's a good possibility.

If you want to read up on Thyroid disorder, try doing a Google search for "Thyroid disorder alternative treatment". There is a LOT of stuff to sift there, but definitely some very interesting reading. Last post(Unless discussion continues):

Whatever you believe, never accept medical advice at face value. If you truly care about yourself and your body's health, you will take the time to research whatever ails you and make an informed decision about how to address that problem.
