It wouldn't surprise me.

Not that I buy Starbucks. I hear their light roast coffee is decent, but I hate their regular coffee and it's too expensive, anyway. I have been drinking less of my preferred coffee-on-the-go, Dunkin' Donuts, though, in favor of $1 medium coffees from McDonald's. I've liked their coffee ever since they went with "premium" beans. It's still not as good as Dunkin', in my opinion, but close enough and a bargain at $1 here in New York.

And I'm guaranteed a fresh cup since the McDonald's I go to are always pretty busy.

So they sell the same stuff, but you pay more to avoid the low class denizens?

Except in this case, McDeez has a drivethru.

I never thought about it, but that is Target's competitive advantage lol. I will readily go to Target if they are open before I go to WalMart (which god willing I'm only in once or twice a year). But to be honest it's not just the swarms of trashy people, I can deal with that. I don't go to Wal-Mart because I HATE to stand in line for 30+ minutes just to check out.

That's the same reason I go to Target. I can checkout in ~2-3 minutes at Target vs 15-30 minutes at Walmart. Trashy people I can deal with. Long slow lines, I can't.

McDonald's coffee is cheap... but it's crappy. Sometimes that's what I want - caffeine injection. But sometimes I actually would like something palatable to sip on.

i remember mcdonalds specifically saying they wanted to dip into starbucks customer base. i wouldnt doubt that starbucks misfortune is partly because of mcdonalds.

Starbucks and McDonalds don't really share the same target market. There's some overlap but Starbucks caters more to an urban gentry clientele.

It's not bad at mine. Better than other quick coffee options IMO. I'm not a huge coffee drinker so my tastes aren't deep or varied but I'd go with McD over most fast food and starbucks. The only thing I get at starbucks anymore is the seasonal pumpkin spice latte.

I've been to Starbucks 2 or 3 times in my entire life...

I've been to Second Cup about 5 and hated every fucking time...

I blow way too much money at Tim Hortons.

I have never had a McDonald's coffee. Their Iced Coffee sucks though.

Yeah, McDonald's does have very good coffee since the switch. To be honest though, who actually goes to Starbucks to buy regular coffee? I only go in Nov/Dec to get their peppermint mocha so I'm hardly an expert but I never see anyone just getting regular coffee.

True, almost all the people I know who frequent Starbucks' go there for the dessert drinks. All my college friends who like Starbucks love a ton of sugar and cream/milk plus the insane amount of caffeine. Plus they go there for the "atmosphere" and to use their laptops.

I like lighter roast coffee, usually black and almost always without sugar. I will have the rare Coolata from Dunkin' in the summer, and pumpkin spice in the fall.

Now that I think about it, I don't really have that many friends my age (I'm 25) who really like coffee.

Tea is really so much better. The caffeine and L-theanine in Black Tea work in synergy to help increase memory retention and to smooth out caffeine's jitters, anxiety, and blood pressure increases.

I wouldn't be surprised if most of your college friends that age took ADHD meds instead of coffee to study, they just might not be open about it.

Come on guys, you know you all like Starbucks so you can sit there and pretend to read some type of classic lit while sitting in a position that forces others to notice that you are indeed reading some type of classic lit. Preferrably an old beat up paperback, but not so beat up as to make others strain to read the title of the book you're holding.

Is Peet's any good? It's wildly popular in some areas around here...

Never heard of it. I'm from Western Mass. Most popular chains around here are Dunkin donuts, SB's, then you have you fast food chains hocking sludge. Gas stations are a mix. Some places sell Baronet brand, which isn't bad. Baronet roasts in Hartford, you can smell it from the highway.

Good coffee has everything to do with preparation. You can buy the best beans, but if your water sucks, the equipment isn't properly maintained, or you can't measure right, then it will still suck.

Quality varies from place to place.
