I agree, some people have serious allergies to gluten and milk and mcducks should have disclosed them as ingredients.

Actually, in this case they don't because the food product is sold directly to the consumer with the intent they will eat it there. No nutrition facts or ingredient labels are required by the FDA in this instance. The same goes for Olive Garden, Burger King, Arby's, etc. Most do it as a courtesy thing.

Here's the FDA website to reference the info.

He's right.

It's called slicing a potato to resemble fries and baking them. They aren't going to taste anything like McD's though.

Really, my favorite "fry" is with sweet potatoes...HELL YEAH!

According to the FDA, McDonald's will win. There is no provision saying McDonald's has to put this on any label.

Exactly. Gee, I know blenders are dangerous but yet I put my hand in one while it was operating.

Gee - I'm alergic to shellfish and yet I still ordered something without asking if any shellfish were used in it's preparation (read - lots of soups use a fish stock made from shellfish)

I don't believe that's necessarily the case. According to the FBA, McDonald's doesn't HAVE to provide the ingredients, but they DID provide the ingredients list - so if it's inaccurate, wouldn't that make them liable? People made decisions to eat their food based on inaccurate information they provided, and as a result people became ill.

Now as far as compensation goes, unless they suffered permanent damage or were close to death, I think monetary damages should be minimal - medical bills plus a little extra for their trouble. If this was no worse than a case of simple food poisoning, then deal with it. Just because eating at a restaurant causes me to have explosive diarrhea, that doesn't entitle me to a free payday. :D

FWIW, this is what their website says now:
Contains derivatives of wheat and dairy, but has been verified by the University of Nebraska to be allergen and gluten free.
So maybe it wasn't McDonald's that made them sick, or maybe McDonald's is full of crap.

I don't think it's outrageous.

It should be against the law to not disclose ingredients.

Don't you guys know McDonalds probably uses real human and animal feces in their food? I'm sure a little bit of everything finds their way into some of that crap food they serve.

The article says "McDonald's Corp. faces at least three lawsuits claiming the fast-food giant misled the public." If they never asked, then McDonald's couldn't have misled them. So it stands to reason that they did check the ingredients first.

Mugs, if a renowned doctor of allergens puts his career on the line saying there are no allergens I would tend to believe him. Wheat derivatives or whatever, doesn't necessarily mean there is gluten in the product.

I acknowledged the possibility that it may not have been McDonalds that made them sick.

Here's an idea. Don't eat there, you are eating your life away regardless of how you look at it so it is a risk from both directions. Shut up and deal with it, then go run on a treadmill for an hour.

Haha, that's jumping on the bandwagon? I was just stating my opinion, regardless of what other people have said.

blaming somebody else for one's poor choices is NOT jumping on a bandwagon IMHO.
