McCain's campaign is a complete joke

McCain decides to take his first press conference in nearly two weeks with a misogynist Reggaeton star named Daddy Yankee:laugh:. He must be trying to woo the Latinos that have deserted him but such a choice is just wrong on so many levels. I guess when you cheat on your wife; call your current wife a wise and beautiful woman; and envy Obama's "celebrity" status, the only thing to do is try to get as close to music star as you can.

http://www.politico.com/blogs/..._primary.html#comments

McCain wins Daddy Yankee primary

My colleague Marty Kady on the McCain watch sends in this dispatch:

It?s been nearly two weeks since John McCain did an open press conference with actual questions from the media, so when the campaign promised a ?press availability? today the national press swept into Central High School in downtown Phoenix early Monday morning, parked their satellite trucks in the lot and perched on their seats hoping for news.

What we got was Daddy Yankee, who elicited Beatlemania-type gasps from the high school girls assembled in the school library.

For the unhip (including yours truly), Daddy Yankee is a pioneer in the reggaeton music movement, which is a Puerto Rican blend of reggae, rap and Latin music. Daddy Yankee?s best known work Gasolina may very well be part of the McCain energy policy, but we?re not sure if this cut of Gasolina has the phrase ?drill here, drill now? in Spanish. In fact, a loose translation of the ?Gasolina? lyrics show the song is pretty much standard rap material ? women, fast cars and partying. Key lyric: ?Up mambo so my babes turn on the engines.?

Much like McCain, Daddy Yankee has a compelling personal history ? he was caught in the crossfire of a barrio shootout as a teen and took a bullet to the leg from an AK-47, derailing his dream of becoming a Major League Baseball player, according to his Wikipedia entry.

So why was he here?

?Like I said before, he [McCain] has been a fighter for the Hispanic community ? a fighter for immigration,? Daddy Yankee said, decked out in all black, sunglasses and a diamond stud earrings.

So in addition to being an endorsement photo op, the Daddy Yankee appearance seemed designed for outreach to young Hispanic voters, and the location for this event was carefully chosen.

Central High School, in addition to being Cindy McCain?s alma mater (Class of ?72), is also the largest high school in Phoenix and is 75 percent Latino.

McCain told the dozens of high school kids gathered that the high school is ?an example of the kind of the opportunity for all of America.?

McCain has not taken questions from the press corps in 12 days, although he has done sit down interviews with Politico, the Chicago Tribune and Katie Couric for CBS News. The streak will likely continue for the next few days, as McCain has a closed fund raiser in Sacramento, an appearance on the Tonight Show today, followed by a speech to the American Legion in Phoenix Tuesday and another fund raiser in San Diego. He?ll be sequestered again all day Wednesday at his Sedona hideaway before he travels to Dayton on Thursday on the eve of his vice presidential announcement Friday, Aug. 29, his 72nd birthday.

what does McCain's first marriage have to do with any of this?

and if a "complete joke" is within 1.6% of Obama, wtf is Barry doing wrong?

For Obama being considered one of the strongest youngest democrats running one of the best campaigns in recent memory. That sure does make you wonder the claims about McCain running a terrible campaign. The guy is pretty much a living corpse and in a dead heat with the goldenboy from IL. Either McCain is running a better campaign thant people give him credit for, or Obama isnt running that great of a campaign.

Considering where Obama polls to a generic democrat. I think it is definately a combination of a decent McCain push and an uninspiring Obama campaign. This should be a cakewalk.

You obviously don't know who the singer is.

And you are more than welcome to tell me about his wife if you like.

I think the fact that he hasn't been around as much as other candidates is of concern. The fact that he's the first African-American to head a major party in the Presidential election is another reason why he's not polling as well as he should. America may have come a long way but I think some people have to try harder than others to get votes. You may not like that answer but it's as clear as day.

someone you think is a misogynist endorsed McCain and the world is ending? how many rappers have come out for Obama? you're going to find a lot more misogyny in the rap world than some one-hit wonder reggaeton guy.

There's a pattern, which shows character. Showing up with this misogynist just confirms it. BTW, I've never seen Obama do a press conference with rappers. If you do know of any, let me know.

I'm not sure why that would be a surprise to anyone. It's not like Obama wasn't a black man 2 years ago.

Not sure why you lefties think the McSame campaign will work, especially when you picked yet another candidate who will struggle in Ohio.

Kind of like having a racist, hate preaching, radical zealot as your spiritual guide? Oh wait, that's just guilt by association, this is completely different.

If you acknowledge that character matters, then you understand why many of the Hillary voters are siding with McCain despite policy differences.

Whatever. What are you gonna do? Dig up the chain letter Emails full of half-truths, outright lies, and crap taken out of context? That worked out well in that other thread. After that I'm sure the Obama's are shaking in their boots...

Are you serious?

The whole angry Clinton supporter ordeal is nothing but a bunch of FUD - any "true" Clinton supporter would have to a complete 180 degree turn in ideology before even thinking about voting for McBush. It's nothing but a tactic by the McSame team trying to divide and conquer.

I guess that's what they're doing, then. You can choose to believe whatever you want. Regardless, if you want someone who has the necessary experience to be President, and someone who will be tough on Iran and North Korea, its not a 180 degree turn at all.

Poll: More than half of Clinton backers still not sold on Obama

DENVER ? Fewer than half of Hillary Rodham Clinton's supporters in the presidential primaries say they definitely will vote for Barack Obama in November, a USA TODAY/Gallup Poll finds, evidence of a formidable challenge facing Democrats as their national convention opens here today.

In the survey, taken Thursday through Saturday, 47% of Clinton supporters say they are solidly behind Obama, and 23% say they support him but may change their minds before the election.

Thirty percent say they will vote for Republican John McCain, someone else or no one at all.

Ah, nice to see you were bothered enough by being informed your posts are generally meaningless crap to begin accusing others of that. By the way, your post is meaningless crap, as usual.

Ask yourself why would someone vote for Hilary? She's anti-war, pro-abortion, anti-fundie, pro-universal health care and pretty much against everything John McCain is for.

So, they're going to vote for McCain all the sudden?

I call bullshit.

In the survey, taken Thursday through Saturday, 47% of Clinton supporters say they are solidly behind Obama, and 23% say they support him but may change their minds before the election.

Thirty percent say they will vote for Republican John McCain, someone else or no one at all
.

So, Obama has 70% of the Clinton supporters and it's unknown if McCain has any? Seriously, the last question was worded pretty poorly.

He's not pale enough. If he was white he'd be doing much better. Hopefully when it comes down to the day oif the vote a lot of so called generic Democrats that aren't that enthused about voting for a black man will come to their senses and realize that they and America will be better off with Obama than McCain.

No before you start whining about me labeling Republicans as racists notice that I said Democrats. Republicans wouldn't vote for him if was pink, fat and from Texas.

Huh? What make you think Hillary would have been more tough than than Obama? By that logic Hillary supporters should vote McCain over her too.
