McCain want to free "Teh Internets"

So, McCain has introduced "The Internet Freedom Act," aka "The Kill Net Neutrality So We Can Really Fleece These Stupid Bastards Act."

http://www.pcworld.com/busines...cc_net_neutrality.html

We have all the usual deregulation talking points: the market will govern itself, regulation kills competition and innovation, etc. I wonder why a man who has admitted his computer illiteracy would introduce such a bill? Here's why:

Campaign Donations to John McCain 2005-2010

AT&T: $216,938

Source: http://www.opensecrets.org/pol...24&newMem=N&cycle=2010

Expect to hear plenty on this bill from the regular Neocon sources in the next few days.

that's only $40k a year... and if you want to talk in terms of donations, dont throw bricks in a glass house as your current savior in chief is pretty guilty of them himself....

plus i believe it has been established by those who KNOW networking that net neutrality fucks up a lot of shit...

I don't have a problem net neutrality, and I KNOW my shit. I should, seeing how I work at a state university doing it. Maybe you should suck it the fuck up, and do your job, instead of whining like a little bitch. I mean, networking is just so fucking hard. Boo hoo.

I don't care how little you think the dollar amount is, it's still a fucking bribe. To an old geezer who doesn't know jack shit about it except it's a market ripe for raping.

And this has what to do with equal access rights to the 'net that the cable monopolies want to get rid of for more $$$?...just curious.

what McCain is saying is true... regulation kills competition... once regulated, it becomes more expensive to enter the market, once regulated, the established players, with money, stay and those without money, and not yet established do not have a strong enough foothold to withstand the regulations...

that wasn't Econ 101, that was corruption... not to mention the fact that we no longer run by the rules... we have progessed from Econ 101 to Econ 10Fail

[Fox News] This legislation is clearly for the good of the country because President Obama is orchestrating a government take over of the internet just like he's attempting with health care, banking, and auto manufacturing. [/Fox News]

Net neutrality prevents this very problem. McCain is paying back the established players, who happened to contribute to his campaign, by offering legislation designed to hand them the keys to the internet and giving them the ability to lock out other players.

over generalization. regulation can just as easily create competitiion or prevent monopolies.

http://thedailyvoice.com/voice...esnt-know-h-000740.php

John McCain says he doesn't know how to use a computer. In a video interview with Yahoo's Political team and Politico.com, McCain admitted he is computer illiterate. When asked if he preferred a Mac or a PC, McCain said "neither."

"I am a illiterate that has to rely on my wife for all the assistance I can get," McCain said. In a computer-dominated world, McCain's professed computer ignorance may raise questions again about his age. At 71, he is seeking to become the oldest person ever elected president of the United States.

I can't believe this fucking idiot is drafting a bill like this.

So in the ~15 years the internet has been a major medium has what you fear happened and not been smacked down by the FCC?

This net neutrality crowd sounds like a solution in search of a problem.

are you saying that mikemike is failing or passing econ 101?

regulation can certainly improve competition, thats undeniable. What is so 'difficult' about net neutrality anyways? What is there that people object to, other than profit?

Sorry, not this douchebag conservative. I don't think any company should be able to throttle one persons, or a specific type of, traffic because someone else doesn't think it's important. If you pay for service, you should get what you paid for, and if the company oversold bandwidth and my downloading is interfering with some companies video confrence calling, tough shit.

Umm, this bill specifically aims to take smacking power away from the FCC.

Can someone please elaborate on what the net neutrality act actually wants to do? Preferably with facts from the bill and not bias and hackery taking shots at the other parties?
