Which one of these teams has the positive message for america, and which one is preaching divisiveness and lowest common denominator slimeball fud tactics?

bravo!

Yeah, she needs to be babysat so she doesn't say something stupid again. If she's not stumping and reading a speech she's worthless.

As for this... I grew up in NYC and live there now, and JM/SP can stick it up their collective ass with this comment. I bust my ass for a living and don't think I'm better than anyone else.

you're absolutely right.

having lived in NYC, there was absolutely NO attitude that people living in NYC (or blue states in general) were intrinsically better than anyone else... you know, or something.

If you think you are better than a whole group of other people that you then label elitists, doesn't this make you . . . HEAD ASSPLODES!

Having lived in NYC for 25 years I've never heard anyone speak negatively about southerners or conservatives.
Now That I live in Central FL? Forget it everyday I hear " Damn liberals!", "Welfare F$%$#!", etc etc. They hate NY'ers over here, it's disgusting. They see themselves as "hard working Americans", northerners are welfare recipients. They are the "elitists", not the ones they claim.

Bryan Williams: You've said the best of america and the most patriotic ameriacns live in small towns, implying citizens of small towns are more patriotic and better than citizens of cities...isn't that elitist?

Of course that did stop Governor Dipstick from having the state of Alaska foot the bill so she could bring her daughters with her to visit the center of elitism.

That horrible woman is turning this country against itself with her divisive rhetoric. McCain again has shown that he was willing to put himself ahead of the country by picking this Bitch as his running mate.

You're not fooling me for even one second! You're a secret elitist, no doubt part of an insidious sleeper cell of gay secret elitist muslims.

You obviously think you're better than the people who think they're better than you because they think you think that you're better than them.

Got that, Mr. Secret Elitist?!

It absolutely amazes me that there are so many arm chair politicians in this forum that call candidates stupid. You are probably the same people that call your boss at work stupid as well.

I would say anyone that makes it to President was smart enough to get the highest political job in the country, and be able to affect the millions of Americans, and affect the entire world with their decisions, and whims, is a smart person.

We all may decide collectively that they took us in a bad direction, but hell, they made it there, and most of us sit around in our 8 hour a day job complain about our boss, and call the President of the US an idiot...

wow.

I'm trying to remember which party seems to consistently use the term "flyover country".

I can't remember the last time I heard someone I know say that. It's mostly something used by people who do a lot of travelling between the two coasts, because it's annoying I'm sure.

I've lived in Chicago and DC all of my life. None of my friends or family are Republicans.

I've never heard a single person use the term "flyover country". It sure as hell isn't some sort of univeral city or liberal term.

Now that I think of it, not a single person has expressed the sentiment that they're better than people who live in small towns. I've heard some say they wouldn't want to live in a small town because it's too slow or the lack of entertainment, but not because they're better than anyone. I've also heard as many people say they prefer the suburbs to busy cities or would never live in NYC because of the pace.

Edit: As a matter of fact when I hear talk about the people in small towns, it's usually to express admiration at how nice and courteous the people are.

look, the bottom line is when one starts speaking in generalities (as is the case here) one will open himself/herself up to attack.

it just doesn't make sense to make these arguments that Palin and McCain are making about who is more patriotic. Why even go down that road!? Not only is it divisive, but it is ignorant thinking.

I know not all small town people are bad just like I know that not all big city people are good.

There is no point in speaking in such ignorant generalities.

people that speak in generalities are stupid. :)

So McCain knows where these elite people live? Does he also have a list of 150 communists who are in our Congress?

He probably has that list that's been kept by all prominent Republicans from the days of McCarthy, through Nixon to Bush.

This appetite for self destruction is starting to make you wonder who is calling the shots within his organization. What does McCain do when he is decompressing after a busy day of campaigning? Does he consult with his campaign manager to review the analysis of the day's activities. Does he discuss strategy on the phone with his closest advisers?

I know! He and Cindy wave good night to everybody and he trots off to bed.

Updated by the ever vigilant Michele Bachman, no doubt.

For his first act as President, maybe McCain could appoint Michelle Bachman to investigate the other Congressmen to make sure that they aren't elites and don't have anti-American ideas.

If I were running on the Republican ticket, I'd be embarrassed.
