woah! the two videos on that page both started auto-playing in such a way that made the audio sound like it was coming from outside my side window instead of the speakers behind my monitor.

because I had scrolled the videos out of view to read the article, it wasn't until after I looked out to see who the hell was outside yelling that I realized the sound was coming from the speakers :sneaky: :p

so much liberal hate in that article's comments, typical of an ABC news site.

Don't really know much about Code Pink. But if they want to bring the troops back from the Middle East, there is at least one issue that we have in common.

Thirteen years is too long. Past time to bring the troops home.

True that Dr. Kissinger is not a convicted war criminal.

Also true that he was awarded the Noble Peace Prize in 1973 for ending the war in Viet Nam.

Of course, the war didn't actually end until the North Vietnamese victory two years later.

Time
Once called "the most controversial to date," the decision to award the Nobel Peace Prize to Henry Kissinger in 1973 was fraught with debate. Critics said Kissinger's alleged involvement as Secretary of State in Operation Condor and the U.S. bombing campaigns in Cambodia made a mockery of the prize and led Tom Lehrer to quip that the award "made political satire obsolete." Further incensing the situation, North Vietnam's Le Duc Tho, who was jointly awarded the prize, declined his half of the spoils on the grounds that he didn't want to share the award with the realpolitik ringmaster. To date, his detractors continue to dispute the accolade, arguing that the prize was for efforts to conclude the Vietnam War — something that didn't actually happen until 1975.
Kind of makes you wonder how the world is going to view Obama's Drone program in the future...

Scum? Call in the police? Get them out?
Sounds like Old Ben McCainz needs a little permanent third world vacation.
Just a good thing he didn't chop off their heads. But give him time...

At no point did he "stand up for war criminals", thread title is bs. A more accurate headline would be "McCain throws out low life scum so civilized discourse can resume".

Yup, bogus title.

"The man is, in fact, a war criminal - wanted for questioning in Chile, Argentina and France (concerning French citizens who disappeared in Chile). He cannot travel to Britain, Brazil and many other countries because they cannot guarantee his immunity from legal proceedings"

Last I checked, he hasn't been convicted of any crimes, so he is in fact not a war criminal. Wanted for questioning means nothing, and since when do we give a crap if a government in some other country wants to question or detain him?

Regardless, it's irrelevant bs. The idiots were interfering with a hearing, they were correctly shown the door.

No, McCain did exactly the right thing, boot them out. Since when do people have a right to disrupt proceedings where and when they want?

so as long as a persons home country is powerful enough to protect them from trial they can never be a war criminal? thats ur standard?

So basically, all it takes for someone to be defined as a war criminal for you is that someone somewhere wants them for questioning? Keep in mind, he's never even been charged with anything anywhere, let alone convicted of anything. Further, you do realize that if there were any real allegations that he could simply be tried and convicted in absentia. Whether the US would then choose to hand him over or not is a different matter (of course it wouldn't).

So basically, these idiot protesters were correctly removed, and there's no story here other than "McCain tosses idiots out after they disturb hearing".

The first session of the defense subcommittee had Scowcroft and Brzezinski as speakers and they had no problems with protesters.
