On drudge he reports that Zogby will announce on Sat. that Obama now trails McCain. Kinda astounding because it would be a 8 point one day swing. Drudge Home Page

Drudge loves to take one anomalous poll and make it a huge flashing red headline while ignoring nine others that show a consistency.

I still say that there is nobody that actually knows which way this thing is going. A "one day" poll does not a trend make, but it's there nonetheless. After 2000, anything is possible. Would not suprise me one damn bit.

This will GOTV, and the other 50 polls taken Friday show a comfortable Obama lead.

Win win.

If this election turns out to be anything other than a pro- Obama blowout, it will condemn the culture and mentality of America in a very profound way.

And why is that?

Not surprisingly, Zogby is third from last in FiveThirtyEight.com's weighting system for the national trackers.

They had Obama up +7 on 10/29; this would be an 8 point swing in two days.

If Harris, Rasmussen, Gallup and AP produce similar results tomorrow, then it's a story.

Not to mention that the "average" poll from RCP has acutally went up by 0.6 for Obama today (5.9 to 6.5) overall.

And for anyone who does not under the polls you should know that they are all about party make up and how they are balanced.

Nearly every poll shows McCain and Obama getting the same number of Democrat, Republicans and independents. The only difference between the polls is what the pollster guesses will be the election day make up. Change the make up by a point and you change the out come by a point.

Darn, I was going to let the righties start getting all worked up before hitting them with the Zogby of the 29th, but you beat me to it.

The ONLY possible reason anyone would get excited over this is if the fix was in and the Republicans needed at least one poll to show a McCain lead before they Diebolded the election.

 Funny, the bolded part...

I have to call B.S. on any poll showing McCain flat or tied. As a Republican, as much as I'd love to believe it, I can't.

For the record:
2004 final poll results
Zogby had the outcome right, but had it closer than it turned out to be.
TIPP had the outcome nearly pegged, closest of all pollsters.
Gallup had Bush and Kerry tied.
GWU Battleground had Bush with a 4 point victory, mainly because the were low on the Kerry vote.

Interesting only two independent pollsters missed the outcome, Marist and Fox News of all people.

More from Drudge
ZOGBY SATURDAY: Republican John McCain has pulled back within the margin of error... The three-day average holds steady, but McCain outpolled Obama 48% to 47% in Friday, one day, polling. He is beginning to cut into Obama's lead among independents, is now leading among blue collar voters, has strengthened his lead among investors and among men, and is walloping Obama among NASCAR voters. Joe the Plumber may get his license after all...
So this is a one day bit of the three day tracking poll.

McCain would need two more good days to take the lead over all. Will be interesting to see what the other tracking polls say tomorrow.

Don't look at the percentages. Look at the electoral estimates. Even if McCain somehow won all the tossup states, he would still lose by alot to Obama.

A one day poll? The margin of error must be through the roof on that thing, Talk about an outlier.

That's because I'm one of those old-fashioned Economic-Issues-first Republicans ;)

Point is Democrats should not be complacent, and need to get out there and finish the job.
