I'm sick of McCain dragging this out to steal the spotlight from Obama, he needs to hurry up and pick a VP to get on with the campaign!

What a media hog!

Obama is the one creating the media hype about his veep choice.... 😕

AFAIK it's Romney. That's what I heard at tonight's CARNAGE (Committee of Anathematic Republicans Negotiating Another Gerrymandered Election) meeting.

the whole convention and nomination process is pure political theater. both campaigns are doing everything they can to make themselves look good.

I'm just raising the point that it's a bit silly to be so angry about the anticipation. I would not be one bit angry if McCain did the same thing given my Obama preference

no kidding, by announcing he's made a choice and won't tell you what it is...😛

anyways the harping over mccains houses is rather rich. mccains housing in north vietnam was something obama fails to mention. while obama past is filled with time spent safe at home while consorting with bigots like reverend wright mccains has been of one giving service to his country and putting his life on the line. i don't begrudge such a man a couple houses.

No kidding. Talk about earning the right.

What has Obama earned?

I love how people somehow think that because John McCain ended up being a POW that it somehow excuses all of his faults. He cheated on his wife? Well he was a POW, what do you expect! He married a multi-millionaire (in the same way Kerry was crucified for)? Well, he was a POW! He allowed Bush to run roughshod around on the torture legislation? Well, he was a POW!

Apparently Obama isn't allowed to play the race card, but McCain can play the POW card at every opportunity. Here's a hint people: Just because he was a POW doesn't make him any less of a scumbag for cheating on his wife repeatedly. Just because he was a POW doesn't immunize him from criticism for having so many houses he can't even remember. Just because he was a POW doesn't excuse him for being one of the Keating Five.

Do I think these issues are stupid and distracting? Definitely. (except for the Keating 5 thing). Normally I couldn't give a shit how many houses someone owns. The thing is that McCain knows he can't win on policy issues and so he's made this campaign into sliming the other candidate. (I find this hilarious considering how he talked about running a campaign based on issues as soon as about 6 months ago... until he realized he was getting killed on the issues) Sure it's shitty, but he can't complain. He started this stupidity, let him reap the whirlwind.

Dammit, I accidentally replied to this post and now with my edit must post something...

All I can say is I would rather be black than have to spend 5+ years in a prison camp. The man is a certifiable hero on every damn level.

Plus McCain made my ass laugh on SNL... so kill me for liking a candidate that made me laugh with his comedy.

I like that doesn't have several dozen half siblings in Kenya or wherever.. the Obama won't even bless us with this knowledge...

Welcome to US politics 101.

Both sides are playing the same game and they are barely just warming up.

The thesis of this thread is that McCain needs to pick his VP NOW. And with all due respect to the OP, I submit that McCain does not need to do it right now, he could just as well wait until after the democratic convention. And it could be good strategy to leave the dems something to wonder about during their convention.

You must be wrong, eskimo. I remember McCain promised this would be a clean campaign about issues and policy. Maybe he forgot? He is very old. We should forgive him though. He was a POW so he can't be questioned on judgment or policy or morality. And he earned his wife's houses. He should get the white house too. He deserves it.

I think you completely missed the point. Deflecting criticism because he's black is BS for Obama and deflecting criticism because he was a POW is BS for McCain. The thing is that Obama can't really play the race card because everyone is waiting and looking for it. McCain on the other hand is using the POW card at every opportunity. (despite repeatedly talking about how he wouldn't)

Oh, and your reasons for who you were voting for are ridiculous. Someone made you laugh on a TV show? Someone has half siblings in Kenya? Stupid.
