Okay, this thread is for all those who have said that they voted for McCain this last go-around. I know that Red Dawn is one, I think Chess indicated that he thought highly of the Senator.

Let's presume just for a minute that the Senator will run again next time. In my opinion, some of his positions could have used a bit of fleshing out IMHO. So here's your chance to be his 'advisor.' What positions does he hold that make you think so highly of him, and what additional positions do you think he should support? Here's your chance to create your dream candidate :)

The only way McCain would run against W. is if no election reform is passed. If W. is smart he will at least make an effort. If not it will be president elect John McCain.

Veryape in 04'. I think McCain is a bit of an ass attitudewise. He just seems mean, although some of his views are okay and he beats the hell out of a Bush presidency.

McCain would do well to leave the Republican Party and join the Democrats or even the Greens since their philosophies are more consistent with his own.

Where was he when the Democrats were trying to prevent overseas military ballots from being counted in Florida? If anyone should have been out front on that issue it was him. But no. He laid low and stayed out of the line of fire until the Presidential contest was settled. Then, within 24 hours, he was all over the media spouting his rubbish about campaign finance reform. And of course, the left wing media love him because, in their eyes, "he's not really a Republican."

Tominator: I'm surprised. You and I are usually in agreement on these matters.

Here's my take on McCain
2004: McCain has little to no chance of getting a nonimation over an incumbant Republication president

2008: In 8 years, McCain will be approaching Bob Dole's age. The '96 election revealed that the American people do consider age a signifcant factor in choosing a president.

dan, i dont consider myself to be very knowledgeable when it comes to politics, but i do remember McCain saying it doesnt amtter wether it is gore or bush as president, there will be bloodshed if there is no campaign reform.

maybe that defends why he did what you say he did within 24 hours?

McCain would be President elect today if it weren't for some of his BIG mistakes like attacking the religious right. He came off sounding angry and with a poor attitude. When your in the Primary your trying to win your base first but McCain couldn't seem to grasp that.

I think McCain would have won pretty easily in the General Election agianst Gore, to bad he wasn't a little smarter.

<< attacking the religious right. >>

I agree this was a mistake.

I disagree. This was the reason why so many moderates on both sides supported him. He would have won if he was independent.

Obviously you underestimate the influence the religious right has. Anyways, if he ran independent he wouldn't have won, he would have only cause al gore to win.
