Maybe it's just me....but I am pretty sure that we won the war in very easy fashion.

Now, the rebuilding efforts after the war.....that's a whole 'nother story.

Remember that talk from Obama about going into Pakistan that some people criticized? That's how. :)

Not even practical and shows how foolish Obama is. We would need a minimum of 4 full divisions to win, but as in Iraq, we would probably need upwards of 500,000 to maintain any kind of control. And even then, we could exoect 1000+ dead every year for as far as I can see.

Are you willing to volunteer to do that?

Er... million dollar question: What constitutes a "win" in Afghanistan?

Unless I've severely missed something, (which is pretty likely, since the news media doesn't report on "that other war" any more,) we're there to hunt terrorists, not directly fighting the country's government or military.

I suppose, therefore, that both McCain and Bush consider Bin Laden's head on a platter to be a "win," and I think it's cute that they keep on promising to get him year after year.

You must be confused. Surgical strikes =! invasion. That's why Obama said.

Boy howdy you've got a baaaad hate on for Obama, don't you?

Let me ask you a question. Do believe that Obama thinks there are 57 states?
Do you think that McCain just slipped up, or does he really not know that Czechoslovakia is no longer a single country?

Of course, I'm just blinded by the "empty suit" that is Obama, and all I can think of are the hollow words "hope" and "change", but I betcha Obama knows how many states there are. I also bet that McCain really didn't know about the partition of Czechoslovakia, not that I think that's too big a deal.

If McCain came out and said he was against gay marriage, and would make amending the constitution to ban it a priority of his administration, would you still vote for him?

Uh dude, I'm pretty sure McCain knows about the partition of Czechoslovakia. He was probably referring to the region, just like Obama's 57 state hysteria was a slip of the tongue.

I'm amazed by Hussein's ability to do it day after day.

I'm amazed that a non-American is so interested in American politics that he has to prove himself to be a bigoted prick by continually referring to Obama by his middle name in a vain effort to pimp the lie that he's a Muslim.

It's even an even sadder commentary on American politics that Obama's religion makes any difference at all, let alone that it gives bigots like you any kind of opening to try to exploit. :(

We keep forgetting the fact that McCain does not understand Iran and Al-Quida mix as well as oil and water.

He keeps making the same statement and Lieberman keeps having to apologize for McCain. ---pppssssssssssssst Johnny---kick under table---Iran has nothing to with Al-Quida
and Al-Quida will not work with Iran.

But I see we are heading in the usual anand tech direction on this thread, rather than try to compare the two candidates on overall vision, we go straight to the negatives and say, no matter how dumb my guys is, I can find a more stupid statement your guy made, even if I have to make it up.

I don't know, try asking jpeyton. I don't think he's reached the threshhold yet, though he's certainly trying.

not at all... it's just ridiculous when hacks ignore the verbal slips that their own candidate makes and then pounce on it when the other guy does the same thing.

the idea that McCain isn't aware of the break-up of Czechoslovakia is as absurd as saying that Obama thinks there are 57 states. and I find these senility accusations especially galling when the democrats have several people far far far older than McCain running or in office and they're age is just fine and dandy, but Senator McCain at 71 is on the verge of alzheimers.

if I vote, I'm voting for Obama, 57 states and all. I just try not to be a complete tool about it.

New rule, if you aren't an American and aren't planning on becoming one in time to vote in the 2008 elections, SHUT THE FUCK UP and use the hand not down your pants to navigate over to ATOT.

Lupi? Indeed.

I read on one of the anti-McSame websites that he earned 28 medals for 20 hours of combat flight time. Must be nice to be the Admiral's son...
He flew 23 combat missions seems like a decent amount of work.

I would guess that half of those medals are type the military gives out for things like being in the war at all.

BTW Wikipedia says he had 17 awards, where do you get the 28 number from?

http://www.vietnamveteransagai...mccain_lost_five_u.htm

"For 23 combat missions (an estimated 20 hours over enemy territory), the U.S. Navy awarded McCain a Silver Star, a Legion of Merit for Valor, a Distinguished Flying Cross, three Bronze Stars, two Commendation medals plus two Purple Hearts and a dozen service medals.

"McCain had roughly 20 hours in combat," explains Bill Bell, a veteran of Vietnam and former chief of the U.S. Office for POW/MIA Affairs -- the first official U.S. representative in Vietnam since the 1973 fall of Saigon. "Since McCain got 28 medals," Bell continues, "that equals out to about a medal-and-a-half for each hour he spent in combat. There were infantry guys -- grunts on the ground -- who had more than 7,000 hours in combat and I can tell you that there were times and situations where I'm sure a prison cell would have looked pretty good to them by comparison. The question really is how many guys got that number of medals for not being shot down."

As I have been told by others...

Thats not a credible source so please dont post your CRAP.

Thanks.

What the he!! do you think we have been doing the last 7 years? We've been hitting AQ targets in Pakistan using drones flown from Afghanistan using precise, so-called "surgical" strikes. Generally CIA controlled.

Are you advocating a full scale bombing campaign? The civilian cost would be very high. Not to mention we would be at war with an ally.
