MCAT Questions

Ok, heres the deal...

unless i take organic 2 this summer, i wont have all my chemistry requirements for the MCATs. This would mean that at the time of MCAT testing i wouldnt know inorganic chemistry. Do you guys think there is anyway i would be able to understand the material that would be on the MCATs through a Kaplan course/books (or other books)? Like, learn it myself kind of.

That way i would just not take organic 2 this summer and i could take inorganic later. Omg...this life sucks lol. I have a lot to do this summer, thats the reason i ask.

thanks a lot guys!

The Princeton Review MCAT prep, get it, do it, learn it, live it.

Even than your screwed. Chem O is seriously the hardest part of the test.

Take Chem O on its own. Either way this lack of preparation will probably result you in you flunking out of med school, so save yourself some trouble and buy a  this summer and chose a new path. (Might be harsh, but I probably just saved you a few thousand g's)

Take it next time around. There's no need in rushing into Med School if you're not prepared.

You can always look at Physician Assistant school or lesser degrees as fallback points to do basically the same thing.

Even if you are Asian you don't have to go to med school. A career in engineering or sometimes law, can be an acceptable fate.

I might be starting a journey into medical school this summer, myself. Except you're a lot farther along than me. I still have to place into a chemistry class

Chances are it won't be a path I'll be taking.

you can learn enough to do decently on the MCAT through the Kaplan book.

Just take the Kaplan or Princeton Review course to save yourself some trouble

Learn it yourself from a Princeton book. Get it from one of your friends foolish enough to have paid for the course.

I took the MCAT back in 2006 and there was no inorganic chemistry on it. Also, unless they changed it, organic chemistry only makes up 25% of the Biological section.

After careful thought I decided to go on this path of studying oncology. In spring of 2009, I should have my MIS degree done. At that point, I will still need to take Chemistry 1 and 2, Organic Chemistry 1 and 2, and Physics 1 and 2. At least you're further along than myself. I have a huge mountain to climb.

But, in response to your situation. Just don't rush it. Take the damn class and study your ass off. Then get the Princeton MCAT review and study your ass of some more. You're probably still young, like myself. I'm only 21 for shit's sake and have a lot of time to go to med school. Don't rush it if its something you really want to do, it'll pay off.

Hope it helps.

I'd agree with the other posters--take your time, properly learn the material, finish a test prep course in addition to the standard coursework (if so desired), and THEN give the MCAT a go.

Honestly I'd get a full year of Orgo under my belt before taking the test. Organic 1 only sets the foundation for the real mechanisms and synthesis you'll do in Organic 2. I don't know which the MCAT mostly stresses on, but I wouldn't rush into it without a solid and complete backing in the subject.
