Ok, my friend has a problem. Her laptop had 2 virus checkers on. So she's getting rid of both, to reinstall mcafee. But she has following problems with mcafee when trying to uninstall..

-deleted shortcuts and uninstalled one of 2 program files on the control panel.

-tried to delete the rest but get an error saying "You must delete all remaining McAfee services before you can delete Viruscan. I searched the computer's file and folders for McAfee, and came up with McAfee.com folder. Under that was Agent, Shared, and VSO. I could not delete any of these files (it said "Access was denied").

-I want to reinstall McAfee completely but when I finish the download and the upload begins, the computer keeps saying that there's an "error with the McAfee HTML dialogue"

Any help people?!

First the sure-fire method: back up important data and restore the lappie from its Restore CDs, taking care not to get infected by worms along the way. Patch it, secure it, install McAfee.

:)

If you want to do battle with McAfee, start by ensuring that Internet Explorer is the default Web browser, then try installing it again. If you need to uninstall, then first uninstall VirusScan proper (and any other McAfee such as firewall, antispam, etc), and THEN uninstall the McAfee Security Center last.
