MBR problems with ADATA SSD

I Just purchased a New ADATA S599 128GB. (How do I find out what version the firmware is?)I had my Win 7(64 Bit) HP O/S and all my software running perfectly on a Kingston Series 2 SSD 128GB using ACHI and Trim enabled. So using Acronis 11 I backed up entire drive including MBR onto a HDD then I loaded the Acronis recovery software and restored all data including MBR to S599 removed Kingston then rebooted. On Post I get message BootMGR missing Ctrl ALT delete to restart. Would not boot no how no way. Replaced Kingston drive rebooted then tried cloning the SSD to new drive. Same results. Bootmgr missing. Used Win 7 repair disc both times to repair startup. All time it fails same message bootmgr missing. With ACHI enable I tried a new win 7 install, complete with loading ACHI drivers from Gigabyte(GA-X58A-UB3R MB), still get same results. I should mention in all cases I can boot to this new drive as long as the Win7 disc is present in the drive and repair filles are loaded. Anyone know what's happening? How can I tell if I have the 100MB Windows reserved partition. Thanks in advance I have spent 3 days at this and I should mention I tried all the same procedures using IDE

you use acronis easy migrate to clone your old drive to your new drive. it will handle the task.clone drive is part of acronis true image.

do it that way and it will work.

you should not switch between IDE and AHCI - not allowed. sorry. stick with the setting it was originally.

Thanks, I just discovered something, that could be my issue. I found that the master boot record is being stored on my D drive not the C my primary SSD where the O/S is. If I disconnect my D: HDD my old SSD won't boot either. How did the MBR get on another drive? I originally had done a clean install with both the Kingston SSD and HDD present. How can I get the MBR on the C: Primary drive and Boot without issues? I alreay have tried the method you suggested with the same results

In my experience, Win 7 repair can do some strange things.

Yeah, Windows 7 likes to stick the boot sector on a different HD if you have multiple HDs connected when you install Win7. You have to unplug all but your boot/OS drive when installing Win7 for the first time.

That seems to be the case, because that's exactly what happened to me.

Thanks to those who replied. I returned the drive to retailer and he said it was bad. No more ADATA so got the OCZ Vertex 2(34nm). It works great but still had to reinstall everything making sure my MBR was on the boot drive. Now even Acronis doesn't want to automatically include the other drives in a primary backup! I am not sure about Acronis 11, I made 4 different backups and when I tried to mount them to retrieve data the arcives where corrupt! Lesson Learned!

the adata drives are the only drives i've seen that come pre-formatted. what was wrong with the adata? are u sure it wasn't user error

I am just a hacker, so I don't know for sure. But I did do the OCZ drive the same way and it works fine. Acronis and backups/clones/images are still a little confusing for me, so it could be that. A point, the SSD(Kingston V Series) drive I was trying to backup/image was the drive I originally did the same thing with. ie: Copy/image my HDD(O/S) and restore it to the Kingston SSD using Acronis 10 and it went smooth.
