hmm my friends computer got a virus in the mbr so she can't boot her system anymore. i was thinking about running fdisk /mbr command on it but i was worried that i could screw up the file root structure.. i was wondering whats the consequence of fdisk /mbr, and also if i run that command will windows show up automatically or do i have to install something, and if so how do i do it???

Thanx

fdisk /mbr will not prevent you from booting windows in any way shape or form. Or...at least it shouldn't :)

Depending on the virus she has it should be fine. There were some that stored a 'bad' copy of the FAT on another portion of the disk and only put the good one back after they were loaded into memory, meaning whiping the MBR meant losing your FAT and all your files.
