I guess not too many r-mbp users here since it's not discussed but I'm running into this issue:

Using setresx to force 2880x1800 native looks best but it's small even for my 20/15 eyes! :biggrin:

Hopefully there is a fix for FF soon! I don't mind the menus in Office 2011 and CS6 looking a bit fuzzy.

Also in Parallels 7 both Win8 and Win7 VMs only go up to 1920x1200. It's OK but I'd prefer 2880x1800 for full screen goodness! 🙂
 
I stopped using Firefox for this very reason, and now use Safari as my main browser. I updated Firefox to the Nightly Build and have been waiting on a fix, but it still hasn't been pushed out. With Nightly they updated the menu and interface to use Retina, but text within the browser is still fuzzy.
 
Haven't really had too much issue with this. Xcode, Safari, Chrome, Aperture all work without issues. I have heard Pages, Numbers, etc. are now updated as well. If I used Office on my home machine, that would be kinda annoying. The only app that annoys me at the moment is Eclipse.
 
Well, just picked one of these puppies up.

I can definitely see how texts in some apps at Retina resolution (1440 x 900 HiDPI) can cause concerns...

But when I set the resolution to scale to 1920 x 1200 effective, I think the effect of blurriness is minimized a lot. To the point where I can't really see blurry texts anymore in most apps.

And the extra screen real estate is huge... compared to what I used to get with 1440 x 900.

The funny thing is... Firefox public release under Windows supports scaling just fine (199% DPI scaling). It looks phenomenon on my rMBP.

Since I use Safari in OS X, I've never had to worry about Firefox or Chrome not properly supporting the display. Being able to zoom websites is much more important to me.
 
I don't know about rMBP man.... higher resolution doesn't mean automatically better. It will strain my eye balls because the contents will be smaller. The point of having big screen is out da window.

1280 x 800 is perfect.

1280x800 is ok for a 4" screen on a smart phone.

On a 15" notebook it's horrible, the pixels are the size of lady bugs! 😳

The purpose of the retina display is so you cannot see the pixels with the naked eye and text will look as sharp as typeset. One does not have to run 2880x1800 all the time, 1440x900 scaled looks sharp as long as the apps support it. Unfortunately Firefox isn't going to have it officially until 18 comes out, some time in January. The nightly (latest) build does support it now, however.

I am really looking forward to seeing a 13" rMBP. THAT is a worthy alternative to the 13" Air, the current 13" Pro is not IMO. A thinner, sleeker, MUCH higher resolution rMBP would be a real winner. Especially if they can manage to cram in a dedicated GPU. Then the rMBPs become the de facto MacBook Pro going forward, and the MacBook Air becomes the almost disproportionately nice student/consumer line.

Oh I meant for a 13" Macbook screen.... For screens larger than that, yeah, the screen door effect will be easily seen.
