They and AMEX are the only ones that can generate random one-time use CC numbers on demand. (Discover doesn't count)
This may not true. Citi offers Vitual Account Number too. Even better, you can set the limit for the purchase.

AMEX blue cash gives UP TO 5% on all purchases. and if you have a balance of at least $1, you get at least 2%, which is better than discover that gives UP TO 1%

I don't want the hassle of carrying a card just for purchasing gas and use my other card that gives 1% back on all purchases.

Sorry guys, I had posted this deal yesterday and then forgot to check back. Boiler, it's just 5% back on all gas purchases, no other perks. I hadn't thought about the carrying a second card thing...

Anyways, when I get home tonight, I shall post any additional info I have to answer your questions. I received this offer in the mail so I don't know about any links.

Thanks all for the contributions so far.

I'm not sure if it's still going on, but I'll go with a more bigger company.

Make sure to read the fine print on the application you get from more bigger company=).

What do you mean?
It's still 5% after the promo period, even though you have to pump at Shell station.
1% for regular purchase.

Ok, I guess all I have is a phone number: 1-800-437-0180. They just call the card MBNA Platinum Plus. It says "Now with a 5% gas rebate on ALL 'pay-at-the-pump' purchases".

I just received my card today. haven't read the details yet but it sounds good.

there was a thread about this a long time ago.

i use the bank1 card for large purchases b/c 0% apr and cash back, which is perfect.
the AAA card is what i use for gas. some people don't like to have a separate gas card, but i like it. i like the convenience of seeing how much is going out for the car every month. i'm not a AAA member. i just have the cc.

i don't actually remember my application process too closely. it wasn't anything out of the ordinary though. i had cancelled my college mnba card before b/c it had no benefits, but it wasn't a problem doing so.

as for mbna, they're the #2 credit card issuer in the us. they do everything, and you can check out what i mean on their website. if you ever were offered a tshirt at college or a baseball game, it was most likely mbna.

in any case, i don't necessarily love mbna, but thats because i think all cc issuers are sheisty b****rds. they'll all screw me equally, so i'll take what i can get. Anyways, like someone said previously, get the AAA card to save 5% on gas. it works great, and saves me a couple dollars a week.

Thanks Aztech for the info.
I have the Chase Freedom card that gives 3% on gas, 1% on all other purchases.
I just started using the Citibank Shell card giving 3% shell gas 1% all other purchases.

The Citibank Shell doesn't offer Virtual credit card numbers like my other Citibank Credit Cards, the online website is different from the normal Citibank CC.

Since I buy mostly Shell gas, I am going to see if Chase will offer me 5% on gas, if not, I am cutting it up.
