MB seems to have died. How do I get the data form HD?

I have a MSI K7T Pro 2A. Yesterday I had the great Idea of putting in a Athlon tbird 1700 in, to replace my duron 700. I was running it at 1340 for about an 1 hr, then it froze up. when I tried to reboot, I got black screen. I then gave it time and tried to restart with no luck. There is no beep.
I put in the old 700 duron back in, and nothing. I reverted the setting on the MB to factory, and still nothing.
If you have any imput, I will appreciate it.
My big question is: I have 2 hard drives in this thing. They are sound, and I would like to be able to get my data from these. What do I do?

Help Please.

As long as you didn't fry the whole system (I doubt that), I imagine whenever you get your mobo/cpu problem fixed, your hard drive data should be fine. Obviously, as long as your comp won't boot, you can't read the hard drives from that machine. If you need the data before you finish fixing your comp, you could always hook the drives up to another working comp as slave drives and read it from there.

Thanks
Are you absolutly sure I can do this? Do I need anything else, in case I have to do it?
If anyone has any suggestion on how I should approach the Either of my problems, please let me know.
The fans turn on, the lights on the back of the mobo turn on. No beep, and nothing shows up on the screen. all my drives, CDROM, floppy etc, will light up as if they are powered on

Well, I'm not really qualified to handle the mobo problem. I'm still trying to get my new one work too. But as far as hooking your HD up to another computer, that's pretty simple. As long as you have another PC with an open slote on one of the IDE cables. Check the website for the company that made your HD and they should have a page that gives the jumper settings. You change the jumper settings on the back of the HD to slave and then hook it up to a power cable and ide cable in another computer. As long as the computer is configured properly, it should auto detect the HD and you should be able to access all your files. Don't try and boot from your hard drive on another computer though, or Windows will freak out trying to install drivers for all the new hardware. You'll have access to your files, you just won't be able to run most programs that were on it. My suggestion would be to make a copy (floppy or CD) and take the files to another computer that has the necessary programs installed on it.

If for some reason the computer doesn't autodetect the slave HD, you may need to go into the bios settings, but I'll let some one else give details on that.

Yes
I switched from pins 1 and 2 to 2 and 3 for about 5 seconds like the manual says, and all it did was give the beep and show the initial boot screen and it locked up. I then tried to reboot and i got the black screen.

I tried everything last night, that included removing everything except cpu and video. I even removed MB and placed it on a box. I talked to MSI and said it's probably fried. They also told me it may still be under warranty, and to send it in.
Thats what I will do and hope for the best.

Thanks to all of your responses.

I requested and RMA, and was approved. Im now waiting for the board to come back. I also believe the xp 1700 processor has something wrong, I will be requestin RMA from AMD also. The chip read 1100 mhz in my buddies shuttle ak31 based system, next day his computer would not boot. I then put the chip in my MSI based comp and it read 1100, and then after about and hour it killed my Mobo.

Yes, as long as your whole system never fried anything left on the Hard Drives are still there all you need to do is replace the Mobo!
