Help! I need recommendations for a new MB.
My Abit BH7 suddenly quit recognizing one of my two Corsair XMS pc2700 512 sticks (CMX512-2700LLPT). It went into a boot loop, which could only be solved by removing one of the memory sticks. Each one works fine, but not together. I guess one of the memory slots has shorted out or something. We've tried removing and reseating, Skipping slots, etc...but Nothing fixes it. I'm kinda fed up with Abit, after having both northbridge retention clips fail (once allowed the heatsink to fall onto my Video Card..EEEAK. Also, one of the plastic RAM retention clips broke during non-forceful seating. Maybe I just got a bad board or something, but I've lost confidence in ABIT. I wish to do some moderate overclocking, but stability is just as important to me as pure speed. Should I stick with Intel 845 chipset? Go with SIS. I hate to speed too much considering the speed/age of my RAM and CPU. I may want to build a gaming/graphics puter within the next year.
