MB Gigabyte & IDE ATA100 HDD problem

Hi, I have ga-7n400s MB with SATA & IDE interface. When I try to install WinXP on Seagate baracuda 7200.7 80GB IDE hdd (without SATA HDD connected - only CD) the setup prog. cannot proceed (Windows setup/Setup is starting Windows.......). Bios recognize the hdd. With other IDE disk - the same. Win 98 installs without problems. I flashed the bios to F3, changed many settings in BIOS - no changes. I wrote Gigabyte few days ago but still have no answer. Thanks anybody who can help me!

I have the same mobo in an old computer, but I used pata.

For sata, you need to either use a winxp SP2 CD or dl the winxp sata drivers from somewhere (gigabyte?), put them onto a floppy, and load them during the initial boot off of the xp CD (when it says hit f8 to install aditional raid drivers, hit f8 and install sata drivers)

I would recomend making your current xp cd, if it isn't already sp2, into an sp2 one. Search around, I know there are instructions on how to do it somewhere.
