MB Fan on GA-7DX

i currently have the giga-byte ga-7dx motherboard. the motherbaord had a small (40 mm?) fan on it. it was really loud so i took it off. it was blowing on the heat sink attatched to the amd 761 chip. it's much quieter now. just wondering if anybody's had any bad experiences doing this. 😛

I'm thinking about foing this with my 8KHA+. The fan's all grindy and annoying. I think Zalman makes a big ol' (well, big for a northbridge cooler) passive heatsink made for chipset cooling that I'm prolly gonna pick up since I do a mild FSB overclock...

If ya don't o/c I wouldn't worry bout it 🙂

cool. thanks mistatastycakes. i at least feel a lil better now that someone says i should be fine, and i can actually hear my hard drives again.
