Whatever Subbie you drive is probly at least 3000lbs and if its turbo, doesn't get 20/28MPG 😉

I guess it was just the turbo + suspension bits + LSD bits upped the weight. Previously the hatch was 2808lbs, sedan 2685lbs. That's a lot of added weight...

For 264HP/280TQ... thats nuthin... hell the Honda Fit is 2500lbs and it has 109HP...

That car is going to fly... Mazda says 6.1 0-60... I'm calling shens on that... more like 5.1

Mazda rated the MPS 6 at 6.3 in 0-60... and in reality it's more like 5.4-5.5. That little ah heck is going to FLY.

Yes. My STI is about ~3200 lbs, however, all the weight is from the AWD system in place obviously. Plus my car has the power/tq to move. The mazdaspeed3 shouldn't weigh THAT much for being FWD plus even if there is no torque steering, when you hit the twisties, you're going to get a lot of understeering = bad.

I agree, and I love Subbies, but your STI won't get 20/28MPG unless you start driving in 6th gear everywhere you go 😉 Cheap + fast + decent mileage FTW!

Besides this car wouldn't be for "twisties" for me, it would be for spirited driving within safe limits 🙂 I figure I'll get a cheap WRX for auto-xing later if I feel the need

I bought the subie for its performance, however, I am still attaining a pretty good ~22-24 mpg mixed highway/city driving, that's unless I depress the gas pedal all the way every time I accelerate. Plus it'll cost about $25k or even more with the markup added because there will be a limited supply of mazdaspeed3's. I wouldn't doubt that people would buy it even if it was more than 25k, being that the new Civic SI is marked up to 25-27k itself with many dumbasses buying it anyway.

but the mps has awd...the mazda 3 has fundemental traction trouble when accelerating just like any other fwd car...the differential is only good for the twisties anyway...i remember when motortrend got the altima with 245hp to 5.9s so...i guess considering the weight and power advantage of this mazda i say mid fives is definitely possible. This thing has amazing bang for the buck.

Well 20MPG city is something to be excited about. Right now I do almost 100% stop & go, short distance city driving. This will change some in the future, but in my 97 Legacy GT Wagon 4EAT I get about 18-19MPG. 20MPG with 250+HP turbo is very nice, and you know you can't get that in city driving if you tried.

EDIT And if markup is nearing $24K I won't do it; you can get an LGT Limited for $26K off the lot I hear. I'd rather have the LGT at that price! Altho I've got connections at a Ford dealer, so I should be able to bypass the markup.
