Now this is definitely a better looking vehicle than the Altima and surely more so than the Camry or Accord. Hope it turns out well:

Good question. Mazda's second quarter sales results should be public by now. Has the 6 been available long enough to be mentioned in the report? If so, would somebody care to look for it.Originally posted by: toant103
How is Mazda6 doing in Japan and Europe?
The Altima is around the same size as the Primera, but I think they are based on different platforms.Originally posted by: iamwiz82
Negative. Camry is one step above Avensis. And I guess Altima is more or less equivalent to Nissan Almera (Almera is about the same size as VW Golf/Bora/Jetta). Pimera is one step aboce Almera. Toyotas go like this:
Yaris
Corolla
Avensis
Camry
i think the Altima here is the Primera over there.

Why? Because the currrent consensus in the US is that Japanese cars are higher quality than domestics. For the most part, it is the domestics trying to take on the imports, not the other way around.

They only go against other Japanese makers b/c domestics sedans suck. Taurus/Intrepid/Impala/Regal...gimme a break!![]()

For everyone complaining about the interior of the Altima, Nissan could do with taking a few styling tips from the new Primera.
Primera Interior
Unfortunately for us, it seems that the decent engines all go Stateside, as the Primera comes with a choice of 1.8l, 2.0l petrol or a 2.2 diesel engine

Mazda6 looks good, and probably is pretty fun to drive, and is a good competitor, but it looks kinda small. Altima should ditch the chrome taillights and the interior, and it will be fine. It got the space, the power, the handling, the look.

The engines in the new nissans are not much to write home about. We had the Nissan Sunny GTi-R a few years back, that was a similar size to a VW Golf and had 220hp which was pretty fast, but the most powerful engine in the new Primera is the 2 litre petrol engine, which has 140 hp. Not too much for a 3000lb car.
Century is more of an Avalon type car. But with Average age of Camry and Accord buyer in the 50's there gotta be tonnes of false teeth and miles of white hair amongst themOriginally posted by: NFS4

No nonsense family hauler = Accord/Camry/Caravan/Explorer.
Century/Park Avenue/LeSabre = cars for people with false teeth and white hair.
Hopefully. They should stick the 3 litre V6 that is used in the Renault Laguna in there.Originally posted by: Nemesis77

Well, the car is pretty new, I'm sure that they will introduce new engines sooner or later.
Looks like the Altima Rear end might be redesigned in a couple years, at least the Japanese version is looking that way.

What's wrong with these rear-ends?
